I think the side seals main purpose is to help keep rain out.

On mine, that is missing said seals I'll occasionally see my relay block, battery, ect get droplets of water from heavier rains.

I used 1/4 closed cell foam seal on mine. :p
Yeah, but soupie gets 0.00124 mpg more than you.

I noticed the loud fan on my cold starts shortly after buying my Ranger. The cabin seems to do a good job of suppressing the noise but it’s still very much audible. I didn’t think much of it cause it’s quite common among trucks. At least you know ur fan works! Easiest solution is to just idle for a few mins after startup if it bothers you. Personally I let it roar going down the driveway.

Sure rub it in, I suppose you also have the hood struts! =p

LOL, that was the deletion that I really affected my perception of the Ranger being a truck. I guess my frame of reference was old pickups and the massive springs they had.

The hood prop, even though that's all I've ever had on any of my vehicles, just felt wrong to me for the Ranger. So I added the Red Line ones ... =)

Of course, after adding the engine cover, I can just knock twice on the hood and the mice will open it! =D

LOL! Yes, I have hood struts also. But they are black, not the nice shinny ones like yours!

Wait this is seriously a complaint???? Da fuuuuuuhhhhk? I understand the tranny issues and drivetrain issues being complaints but a truck sounding like a truck??? Y’all looking mighty hard for more issues. I love the loud, roaring sound my ranger makes in the cold. Every time people say damn when did they put a V8 in the ranger? Love it!!!

Nope. My '23 did not include struts. However, I ordered struts in advance and had them here for the new blue baby to arrive.

Found this video of how our electronic controlled fan clutch works:
Great video on how it works, wonder if it shuts down complexly when driving highway speeds and air is at a high flow rate,
If it's as revolutionary as the (2010) vid makes it out to be wonder why the 6th Gen is using elec ??

FWIW, one of the features that the magazine articles touted as a benefit when the 19 Ranger was released was the fact that the Rangers 2.3 had a mechanical fan compared to the electric fan used on other 2.3 applications. The reason given was the mechanical fan could move more air than an electric fan and the extra capacity was needed for towing.

Is your friend new to vehicles?

Pretty obvious what that noise is.
Well my 70 GT0, 69 Impala, 96 GT Mustang, 94 Ranger didn't sound like a squirell getting chopped to pieces, But hey! after owning a 2008 F250 Diesal with a Delete and Tuner I was expecting something quiter. I guess I'll look around and ask more about deleting the clutch fan for and electric fan. Maybe I'll get even sneakier getting into my hunting honey hole without watching the Whitetail go over the horizon.

As stated, my truck is noisy only for a few minutes on startup. An electric fan may work, IF it provides enough airflow to meet cooling needs of the engine. Personally, I wouldn't jeopardize cooling on my truck because of fan noise. And electric fans aren't too much quieter as they always are running.
FYI, the fan in my '99 B4000 was much larger and noisier than the fan on my '95 F150 with the 5.0.

Wait, wait... your fan sounds like a squirrel getting chopped up?

Mine sounds like "Whirrrrrrrrrr Woooosh." Like a fan. It kind of makes my truck sound like a big 3-axle semi tractor for a minute.

Maybe make a recording for us because it may be loose or something may actually be wrong with it.
