My Blackstone reports (on any car) look terrible if I don’t get up to 212F oil temp on a regular basis. I literally have reports that show 5,700 miles of highway driving with better results than 1,500 miles of short trip driving.

Once I cross the 212F oil temp mark on a regular basis, my reports look great.

Here’s a 1,530 mile report that has worse results than almost 6k of “up to temp” driving.

Correcting the error in the above post:

Just realized that was a ~5,300 mile run going from state to state (5 x 1,000 mile trips) vs 1,530 miles of city commuting (15 miles one way). Oil never got above 190F going to work, or 203F coming back. The runs in the middle were mixed city and highway driving. Highway at 212F or greater seems to look much better on the report.

Once I have enough miles on the Ranger I’ll pull a Blackstone report.

Theory on fuel in oil = normally logical people suddenly find that tinfoil hats are fashionable.
Personally, I use stainless steel...Faraday cage for the mind...I wear mine all the time...

Now that I’ve done a few short trips of 15 miles one way, my dipstick level has risen.

Next time I go to Colorado or Vegas I bet the level will go back down.

Run your truck harder and all the fuel will be ignited before it can get to your oil, sport mode is your friend and in reality gets BETTER mpgs than D , AND makes transmission clunks disappear... your truck will love ❤ you and you will love your truck !

Better MPGs in sport mode? Can anyone else confirm? Sounds unlikely.

I'm accounting for the fuel that doesn't go into your oil like it does in "D" when it's chugging at 1100 Rpms or already in 7th gear before I get all the way out of the garage , no way to confirm (because its BS on the milage part) but sport mode takes that low RPM rumble out of it , while it may it may improve mpgs to chug along like that, it makes everything else suck , I honestly don't see how anyone could stand to drive it like that , the truck hates it too , it wants to run...
I was at 19.9 before I went to all Sport, stayed about the same in Tow and now I'm at 19.3 ...

its a plasuible thought considering the fact you may be in a better power band for performance

My uncle got better gas mileage in a bigger displacement dually towing his 5th wheel.

But there are so many variables to consider, one being an inaccurate onboard mileage calculator.

To find out a real world proof of the claim, you would need much better equipment to measure the change.

If i am motoring along in the green leafy 'burbs at 25-40 mph, I put it in Trailer Tow. It holds 1-2 gears lower, and is happier queuing up to a right-turn-no-stop intersection. You can shift TT in or out on the fly. 30mph 1100 rpm in 7th; ridiculous. I ran my Kenworth T-680 and Cummins 13 liter at 1200+ in town.
