I get The Works done every 5k, (don't start on how that's too soon). So as 40k approached, I called to see if I could get in last Monday, antiicipatiing my weekend driving would put me right around 40k. They said Wed. morning was the first they could get me in. I thought crap, that will put me over 40k because I had a kayak trip Sunday and 2 days of commuting that would add another possible 200 miles or so. But I was able to share I ride kayaking to knock the trip in half. Then Monday was a nice day for the Harley. Tuesday I had to drive to work and had a chiropractor appt., which I decided to walk to from work, knocking off about 2 miles. Wed. morning came and I rolled into the dealership right after the odometer rolled over to 40000. The service writer asked if I planned to roll in at exactly 40k. I said no, not really.
And since it was still at exactly 40k when I rolled out, I knew they didn't take it for a coffee run!

What do you mean by 'the works'?
It’s just a fancy name Ford has for their oil change, multi-point inspection, and tire rotation. There might be something else to it but that’s basically what it is. From ford.ca…

INSIST ON THE WORKS
Our comprehensive service package helps keep your Ford running smoothly with a Motorcraft® Synthetic Blend Oilᵃ and Motorcraft® or Omnicraftᵀᴹ filter change, up to 83-point inspection, tire rotation, and a Comprehensive Vehicle Report Card.

Well done! It's always cool when the math cooperates. I had a Corvette once that rolled over to 100,000 miles as I pulled into my driveway. It was fun to take a pic of the zeroed out odometer in front of my house and tell everyone I had a new 'Vette.

Ah, the days of the 5-digit odometer!

I am not trying to insult you. I think it's great you care about your truck. Question I have for everyone is, why would anyone trust a dealership unless they had a dependable buddy that worked there. They never let the oil drain long enough. The works is a joke at most dealerships. A good quality synthetic with quality filtration is the way to go. I have trained so many auto mechanics transitioning to factory work it's scary how lost they are. I am not saying that all are bad, but the dealerships good mechanic doesn't change your oil most of the time. Just my thoughts.

Because my time is more valuable. I' rather spend the $80 on them doing oil, filter, top off coolant and wiper fluid, rotate tires, check brakes and out in 45-60 minutes than me spending 2-3 hours doing it.
Plus, I trust my dealer.
Plus+, I don't even have to go to them. They will pick up my truck, then return it when complete, free of charge.
Plus++, it would be a pain form me to rotate tires.
Plus+++, anything goes wrong due to their mistake gets charged to them.

You’re not wrong about some dealerships. ? Sheesh.

Along with good quality synthetics and filtration is having a reliable service location and a good relationship with the advisor. The folks at my dealer are great. The Works went up in price, so I’m on my back for the next service but if it goes back down, I know I can trust them.

I respect you feel that way. I personally believe if you want it done right do it yourself. It takes me a hour. I am very busy but I can fit it in when everyone is asleep. I am fortunate I have my own shop. I was raised farming so it's just in my blood to take care of it myself I guess. What's right for me isn't always right for you. I was just giving my point of view.

ICE 27 and I have the same prospective on life. You give a busy person something to do and they will get it done. In addition to inspecting your own quality work, there is a certain amount of pride regardless of how small the job may be.

How many shops have the actual mechanics do oil changes?
My brief stint as the delivery guy for a largish NAPA all the shops that had floor sweepers or mechanics in training, they were the ones doing the simple fluid dump and replace work. Tire rotations too.
I specify 'the works' with synthetic and then have to tell them multiple times "yes, I know that will be extra."

I got my first few done at the dealer due to points/promotions. Any other dealers send you a video of the work being done/what was found?

The best was the first oil change. I was a bit early but they still checked stuff like the brakes. I could hear in the guys voice on the video he thought having to record brand new brake pads was a bit ridiculous. I thought it was sort of funny.

I'll see if those links are still live and edit this post with one if it works. My guess is they dump them pretty quick to save space etc.
