Insurance and RegistrationFor those of you that don't wear sunglasses, or regular glasses, what do you do with that wasted space overhead?
I've made a label, "beef jerky", which is affixed to mine for those long days on the road. It's a tight fit, but who is trying to store a brand new package anyway?
What other uses have you all come up with for the sunglasses holder?
.
Because of that I have to have sunglasses that are always dark when driving.I was told eyeglasses darken by UV from the sun (or artificial source) and they won't work while driving because windshields block UV.
Do yours darken while driving ? Mine don't.
The 800 and 900 Series 5 Tons worked well for cooking meals too. We didn't have to use the engine with the M88 Recovery Vehicle, the entire thing is an oven.We had guys who would cook on the engines of the duece and a half... Some tried it in the hmmwv, it wasn't as effective... ?
OH the horror of oil in the fuel. We need more multi page threads on the issue.Speaking of chainsaws - checked mine and there’s oil in the fuel.![]()

So you're saying Rangers have to carry the load for Tacos???
I worked to turn in a bunch off 800 series bobtails and wreckers when I was working for the maryland guard. It was fun to drive those monsters. They had the worst road manners. lolThe 800 and 900 Series 5 Tons worked well for cooking meals too. We didn't have to use the engine with the M88 Recovery Vehicle, the entire thing is an oven.
Checked my weed trimmer too - same thing - oil in the fuel, so I sent a sample to Blackstone for analysis and they told me it was bang on spec - 40:1OH the horror of oil in the fuel. We need more multi page threads on the issue.![]()

They do have new eye glasses with darkening technology that works inside motor vehicles. I was offered that feature on my last pair.I was told eyeglasses darken by UV from the sun (or artificial source) and they won't work while driving because windshields block UV.

Mine are a couple of years old and darken inside the truck just fine. They do have new eye glasses with darkening technology that works inside motor vehicles. I was offered that feature on my last pair.
You must have had the transfer cases in low gear if all they would do was 25 MPH. The 800 and 900 series 5 tons were generally governed at 55 MPH with the transfer in high gear stateside and governed at 62MPH overseas.I worked to turn in a bunch off 800 series bobtails and wreckers when I was working for the maryland guard. We had to drive them from the armory, to the turn in yard - a normal day, in a normal vehicle it was about an hour away. Except the 800 series wreckers we were driving topped out at ~25mph. So we were a convoy of 6 wreckers driving down 795, 695 and 81 in maryland, during rush hour . . . we were not well loved that day. LOL
We also had one that had air system issues - if you hit the brakes to hard it blew the air horn. and the only way to make it stop was to bleed the air system to zero and than continue on. . . that was an exciting drive.
I was so glad when we got the HEMTT's - they were so nice and had a soft ride, it is amazing how much of a difference air suspension really does make in seats.
