I just bought a ‘23 XLT w Tremor package. It also has the adaptive cruise, etc. The salesperson said that Ford charges $1500 for the leveling kit and install. Considering I did my own leveling on my F150 and that my local shop does them for $500 plus kit, I was familiar with the amount of work it took and how much other “professionals” charged to do it for someone. I asked why so expensive and the salesperson told me it was because they recalibrate the adaptive cruise control, auto brights, etc. has anyone else has any issues with those items after installing a level kit? While I would not be shocked if 2.5” affected those systems, I would be a little surprised that it would be such a big issue with no talk about it elsewhere on the internet. Am I wasting $800 at the dealer or is it the correct move to get those items recalibrated? Thanks in advance for your thoughts/help!

I'm not saying don't do it, but mine is leveled with 285's on it and I haven't had a problem with mine. I installed my coilovers myself so I know it hasn't been done.

I also had my windshield replaced at one point, and everything works fine without doing any recalibration. The motive is easy money for techs IMHO, unless something isn't working or throwing a code.

I believe the calibration/adjustment instructions for the adaptive cruise sensor have been shared before on one of the threads here. Can't locate them at the moment though but there are sensor relocation kits available to accommodate aftermarket bumpers.

Btw, 2.5" level may leave you high in the front.

Thanks everyone. I thought that 2.5” was high but that’s what the dealer offered so I figured Ford knew how to level their own vehicles. 2” seems to be the level number with 1.5” still leaving a slight rake. I appreciate you all sharing your experiences. I’m going to do it myself and save the $.

That is a dealer, not ford. As you have found they will happily swindle you.

I had firestone check my alignment after my 2" level on my tremor. They recalibrated the sensors as part of the advanced driver assist system alignment for an additional cost.

I do not intend on getting another alignment after I install the 1" BDS shackles in the rear.

I apologize, I should’ve been more clear. I assumed the kit came from ford and that the dealer was using ford parts to do the leveling. Therefore, at first, I assumed ford knew what was needed to level their own stock trucks. I since learned, as you pointed out, that the dealer is not using ford parts to level the truck and were guessing at the leveling dimensions.

See ControlNode's post, that is likely the case - I was mistaken. Having said that, it seems the consensus on the forums is you do not need to adjust the ACC. The headlights are easy enough for most folks to adjust down. Not $1000 in effort.

I don't know about ADC as I don't have it...but I leveled mine 2.5", 286 tires and the only thing I paid to have done was a new alignment...which, because I don't do airborne stunts, has held for over a 100,000 miles and 3 sets of tires...

I left that cratered landscape over 10 years ago lol...I remember the last hit I took in Detroit... bent my strut, wheel, flatten the tire and knocked the radar off my windshield...felt like I hit a land mind...
