Mine went off the other day when a dump truck ran a red light. I saw it coming and was ready. Anyone know, will it eventually apply the brakes?

My coworker was messing with me a while back while I was parking. Stood in my way daring me to come closer, until the brakes automaticaly applied.

Have lived here my whole life.....can tell where a driver is from just from the license plate! Scary!

The C/A definitely works. It sometimes drives me cray in parking garages though. It will go off quite a bit with pedestrians walking through the paring garage.

Talking about bad drivers - I have a dislike for most drivers from Illinois and Iowa. They come to Missouri and think the speed limit is 85 no matter what the signs say. Plus they love to tailgate. And I swear Illinois traffic lights must be backwards to most other states. Ill. drivers will speed through a red light but yet sit still at green lights.

Over here they drive a Elon Car. Read their phone and don't pay attention to anything around them. Ocassionally put it in Beta Self Drive mode.

When I was growing up in Florida all the license plates had a county code.. orange county was 7.

My wife's family.owned a family.motel and would not rent to couples with a 7 license plate.

Later all rental cars had plates that started with a Z. That changed when the kooks on Miami started car jacking the Z plates.

They must be related to the ones here. lol Whats worse is when it's a quick light and they're stopped so far from each other I usually get caught right when it's turning red.

I knew people stationed at Holmsted AFB south of Miami an they said during checking in they're told to leave 2 car lengths between them an the car ahead of them at traffic lights when in an around Miami so you had an escape route of someone tried to car jack you. That was a LONG time ago too. They may have shut that base down after hurricane Andrew.

I noticed that when I'll be using cruise control with the distance meter set to 1 bar and if someone suddenly merges with no turn signal, I'll feel the truck slow down or even brake which in your case saved you and your truck!

I've had 2 close calls when using adaptive cruise control on the same trip. Was traveling down I-95 in the slow lane and started to pass slower traffic. As I moved to the left lane my vehicle slowed just when I wanted to maintain speed. There was plenty of space for me to move over, but if a car had been within 5 car lengths in the fast lane it would have not ended well. I had it set at 4 bars. This happened twice on the trip, and I wasn't close to tailgating the fellow. I now move over much sooner than necessary to avoid that scenario from happening again.

South Florida, even in the late 60's and early 70's was a dangerous place. You had to stay alert and keep your wits about you. I grew up in Homestead - military brat.

I had several close calls, one ending up in an alley with a sheriff deputy pointing his revolver at me... and I was never so happy to see him! I am not kidding! It was a very rough place. Best friend in High School was accosted by 5 brutes in the bathroom and had his wrists slit with a broken beer bottle. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.... It was that kind of place.

The coffee symbol has saved my butt as well. I was driving from NY state back to MA on the pike and I must have been starting to do a wiggle in my lane one too many times. Nothing like a hot, salty french fry late at night when you're tired!

I've done some 14 hour drives and never have seen that. I guess it's a Lariat thing? I wonder if they put that on 18-wheelers...

I hate Illinois. I had to drive though many times and the hotel would not serve hot breakfast for years and years (due to covid lockdowns) but would serve cheapo muffins and apples in the same room (because that's safer and you can survive then). You know when you cross the state line because immediately there are cops every mile and you have to watch for speed traps dropping the mph from 70 to 55 and they always target out-of-staters. Massive legions of cops just sitting on 70 instead of doing something useful like fighting crime in Chicago. They should all be relocated into camps.

Mine saved my rear when I noticed the gear changing indicator for the trainee but was looking at that and wondering why that was there and how did it get there (I have since learned hit the "+" on the shift and whala it appears). Anyway, a truck stopped suddenly in front of me when I was wondering about the gear indicator and not paying attention to the road as I should when the C/A alerted and stopped me almost instantly with no help from Jim until I was almost stopped. I also had it try to stop me for a mylar balloon that drifted in front of my vehicle....annoying but I guess good.

I'm not sure if it's a Lariat only feature but you can shut it off. On the steering wheel go to settings and driver assist then to driver alert. The first thing I did was turn it off, I can't stand that thing going off all the time. There are times it'll go off at under 100 miles of driving and it's more of a distraction than anything.
