I only had the timing belt blow every couple thousand miles :lipssealed:
Exactly! I think maintenance said to change the timing belt every 3,000 miles. I had mine blow while driving - what a pain in the butt changing that out on the side of the road and getting it lined up.

Meanwhile, my old FJ has timing gears (no chain or belt) and still going some 320K+ miles later ...

If anyone needs to change a Chevette belt, the web is a wonderful thing!

My Ranger was built April 2021. I bought it partly because the 2018 Escape 1.5L Ecoboost 4's were having the same type of problem with coolant intrusion. I never had an issue with mine, but I decided to get rid of it (Carvana) and order the Ranger. At 42,000 miles, so far so good, but with hit or miss Ford quality, It is becoming akin to driving in a minefield. I bought a 10/150 Allstate extended warranty the day I picked it up. Ford has been building liquid cooled four cylinder engines since at least 1908. Lately, is seems they've moved too far from the basics.

Does anyone else with a year that hasn't been hit yet feel a bit like Neo dodging bullets in the matrix?

so i guess the good news for this thread so far is none of us have the issue... checked my oil and coolant just to make myself feel better about it.

oh boy dont mention gas in oil the hooligans will show up lol. still a group here someplace that is keeping oil tester companies in biz over that. as i recall one of the "nicer" gas in oil group folks told me to leave his thread since i asked if anyone had any problems or damages related to the issue.
direct injection... who would have thought. all these years later a 4 cycle that identifies as a 2 cycle so strongly it mixes gas and oil on its own!

So….. I have a 2021 and I just swapped to doing all the oil changes and regular maintenance myself (like last oil change). Used the dealer before every 4-5k. I noticed my coolant was low during the oil change. I know it can be normal to have to add coolant once in a while, so I bought the ford coolant and got it back to middle of the max-min lines. I’ve been monitoring it now that it hit my radar. I’m definitely losing coolant slowly, it’s back to just below the min line after 1800 miles. That’s about 12-16 oz of coolant. It’s a great truck, I’m going to get it back to normal coolant level and do another 1500 miles and see what happens. If I still have the issue I’ll take it in to the dealer. I’ll post back here how this plays out. I might get the oil changed in the next few days by the dealer so I stay in the weird interval they want and have a record of a professional oil change ?. I’m not aware of a TSB that applies to this year group or any examples with the 2.3. I know it’s a huge issue on a bunch of 4cyl EB motors (1.0, 1.5, 2.0).

Out of curiosity, what type of driving do you typically do, and has that pattern changed since the warmer/hotter temperatures lately?

My ‘19 seems to still be where it’s always been, just above minimum.

I commute it about 110 miles a day or about 2700 miles a month on average. I tow a 5k camper about 7-10 times a year up through the Rockies usually. I also off-road it about once every two weeks for about 30 minutes on average, but every other month I take a longer wheeling trip (couple hours). Pretty consistent with that pattern. It has been hotter (95+ lately). Right after that oil change 1800 miles ago I towed about 400 miles to include wolf creek pass. I’m hoping it’s just normal considering how I use it. I keep hearing from my circle that they add coolant every oil change. IDK ??‍♂

Cracked engine block? No problem.

I did fix a cracked tractor transmission case with it and it went on to last for the next two years of my commercial brush clearing.

Hahahaha, my grandpa did that on his Chevy 1500. It lasted 8 years and 250 000KM (155 000 miles). The frame roted out before the j-b weld gave out.

I'll bet you a dollar your EGR cooler is leaking.

I’ll look into that, I hope it isn’t. None of the EGR stuff is covered by ford and from past experience with another ford, it’s a pain to deal with that system.

It's covered under the emissions warranty. I know because the one on my wife's Escape went and it was past the bumper to bumper.
