Has anyone here upgraded their turbo to the CR stage 3 or stage 4? If so I have a few questions.
(currently FBO E50 tune by 5* making decent power)
1. Has it been reliable? (still running) lol
2. What kind of power are you making and would consider safe?
3. Did you regret it or happy with the decision?
4. How is the boost lag over Stock?
5. Not important, But how is fuel economy over mixed fuel? would like bigger turbo tuned to 93 rather than always calculating E-mixtures..lol
6. Was additional fuel need over stock capabilities for low boost?

Spitballing here but I'd bet there would need to be a holistic approach to 'upgradung' the turbo (besides tune).

Some performance fuel injectors and all the intake system as well as exhaust side. Cooling.

Whatever you spend on the turbo spend two or three times as much on the rest. You'd definitely be voiding the warranty ?

I read different threads on mods that have different goals. Street Truck: fast 0-60+ times and quarter miles. Not exactly manufacturer's design for the masses. Then you've got the off-roaders that would want different performance traits. Then the towing folks. If it were cheap enough we'd all love a blueprinted custom turbo, I bet there is a flavor for everyone.

Everything else is already upgraded.

S&B CAI
Mountune FMIC and Piping
Turbosmart BOV
CVF Downpipe
MBRP exhaust
1 step colder plugs
J&L OCC
5 Star E50 tune (93/E30 as well)

Basically all I can do prior to turbo upgrade has been done.
My fuel injector duty has not been maxed out yet, they can handle more CFM from a bigger turbo.

Well, warranties are void IF they can prove your modification caused the issue you're experiencing.
All mods would be removed and put back to factory in the case I need to take it in.

yeah, good luck with that. The computer is capturing everything going on. It will be apparent that you’ve been running well out of spec.

Well, that's why the ECU memory was saved on the controller prior to the tunes. SO it can be wiped and flashed back prior to service.
Thank you for the good luck! Always useful!

Doesn't matter Ford can tell everytime the ECU/PCU has been flashed. And they can tell number of drive cycles since it was last flashed. You can run but you can't hide.

Never had the upgraded turbo, but I would suspect the lag would be about the same as stock. How you ask? Well the impeller is still the same to my understanding (at least the size and housing are). The compressor wheel does change and that is where it makes a difference. How is MPG? I would suspect that as long as you are trying to drive for MPG you should be close to stock(or wherever you are now). When cruising the turbo isn't doing a whole lot and that is due to not having high load and high demand for power.

You're probably correct. But, again they have to prove that the tune/aftermarket part directly caused the failure in question. Doesn't hurt to try or take to different stealerships.

Not probably, he is correct.

People think uttering "Magnus Moss" is like Gandalf yelling "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!". The reality is Ford says the warranty is voided and the onus is on YOU to prove them wrong. They have unlimited "fuck you" money for lawyers and an army of engineers to testify in civil court on their behalf.

Do you?

And lastly, the most screwed up thing of all: You call them a "stealership", while stating you would be the equivalent of a thief in a different way.

I don't really give a fuck if Ford wants to warranty anything. Nor do I care about anyone's insignificant thoughts and opinions on their warranty policy. Once again, if people can overcome their illiteracy and read. This thread in not about warranty. lmao

The 10R80 is supposedly rated to 1000hp...I don't think the 2.3 can get there...but, you never know! hahah
It's not a HP rating but a TQ rating. The TQ Rating is 800 FT LBS
