For my own curiosity I start d reading up on this tonight. Came across a professional write up on our Transmissions. It’s strengths and Achilles heel. https://nextgendiesel.com/blogs/transmissions-101/ford-10r80-transmission-problems-solutions
Although I can not and will not question the issues brought up in this article. It is definitely a sales pitch for their "upgraded" version of the 10R80 transmission. It gives no suggestions to increase the durability/life of an OEM transmission other than replacing it with one of theirs.

Take it for what it is worth.

Unfortunate with the news. Now for the real questions since i dont feel like going through the 8 million page build thread.

What modifications have you done?

Assuming you did get a tune, what time did you get and run for a majority of this time?

Sounds pointless? Well it may be a leading cause to the rebuild. Wont aregue that the 10R80 is a different animal.

I wonder if having a true dipstick with drain plug in the pan would help extend the life just by doing a drain and fill every 30K?

Just some food for thought

I am curious as to what driveline mod's you have done to your truck?
Zero...unless you count 2.5" leveling as such...stock tune...drive like grandma...haven't towed anything except my utility trailer with a mower on it and a few off road trips that any mini vans could do...don't laugh...believe it or not, at nearly 100K I'm only on my second set of tires and original set of brake pads...the real trips are in the future when I complete my camper project...

I agree that it is a nice price. Chances are I suspect Ford will want it rebuilt.

What does Ford wants have to do with it? He has 95K miles on it. It's his dime not theirs.

What about talks you?
What does Ford wanting to rebuild it have to do with Sid's situation. If he wants to put a reused one in it’s his call not Fords this isn't a warranty issue.
