well this has been a helluva read.
one the more entertaining ones for sure. Since I owned numerous Saabs I used to spend time on Saabnet - really good site for technical & dealing with issues (Saabs had plenty) but there was an Amsoil distributor on there (Dick from Fall Church, VA) who never failed to post on the endless virtues of Amsoil and he was always assailed by numerous responses but he was impervious to these and the throttling was entertaining. Beats the shopworn damper posts on here and the posts in disguise damper marketing.

that's funny stuf right there. all you put out there was the truth. he's obviously paid to be a GFC brand douc*cough*ambassador. I wonder if he's crying to his buddies "but but but they said you guys pay me when all I get is free stuff"
????

he's probably only 5'0" and needs seat jackers to see over the steering wheel
Pretty sad response. While I’m a satisfied GFC owner and disagree with you on your opinion of their product, I can respect your dislike for them based on your poor experience.

Your response here though speaks volumes for your character though. As a fan of the ranger and I would guess most of us enjoy the outdoors, it’s sad you would throw shade like this towards someone that has put in a lot of effort to promote the ranger to a large audience (outside magazine) and push to actually use it to get outside.

You don’t have to like the guy to be a decent one yourself. Go check out his instagram and you might rethink your jab at his physical presence.

Any body who has spent even a modicum of time outdoors in the last 10 years can tell you that "Outside" is not our friend.

They are simply a tool used by, and using, the invaders to help them decide which Gucci branded item will make the outdoors just like their living room.

For Christ's sakes you can't find a spot anywhere in Colorado in the summer any more where you won't hear some douchebag's generator all night. And if you've visited a National Forrest in the last couple of years it should've brought a tear to your eyes.

So just because you like the whole Instagram clout chasing, wannabe influencer thing. That doesn't mean it's for everybody.

I have nothing of value to add other than the community needs less gucci shilling and pushing and more focus on those guys out there scraping together two pennies so their beater can actually off-road.

If you notice all of the really big players in the industry have basically zero budget line minded products for those honestly "getting into off-road". These companies want a piece of that upper crust weekend LARPer community to sell their chinese rebranded products for huge mark-ups.

Off-road mags have for the most part mimic'd firearm mags, 90% gucci shilling and 10% content articles.

Now for the record, more power to them, capitalism at its finest, but lets identify a spade for a spade shall we.

The vast overflow of cheap china lights (and other products) on the usual websites wouldn't exist if companies here would step into to fill that void, but again they are not interested in low level amateurs getting into the game.

Edit: The horrible truth is these companies buy those same products in bulk direct from china factory and then put a USA price tag on them. I recently discovered (among many) an astounding example. ROAM storage boxes. Long story short; you can just about buy 4 for what they charge for 1 if you cut the middle man out. Yes you have to wait 30 days for it to come over on a boat, so unless you lack patience, its all a giant rip off to be perfectly honest.

I recently saw an off-road retailer selling some small 2" pod lights on clearance for $3.00 (yes you read that right) - normally $33.00 per piece. It took me about 2 minutes on Alibaba to find out its on clearance for $3.00 because...

*slow gasp* ....that is what they are buying them for.

By the way most Alibaba merchants can custom brand their products as long as you buy them in bulk. Hint Hint.

Having a good idea on materials cost / labor (which in most cases is... non-existent), some company could make a killing if they came out with a sub $800 no frills RTT. I'm still trying to figure out why there is not one single RTT on the market (that I am aware of) for a one person RTT. Half the foot print, half the weight.

So kind of still off topic, but once again reminded of this thread. I like cruising YT for videos like this for two reasons: (video is a little old at this point, but none the less...)

1. Are they actually going to show us why they are formulating their "advice" or is it just a click-bait shill video (which they most often are).

2. The comments section (the comments in this one are gold)

Now I know this YT channel gets a lot of hate, but this particular video is so close to reality it is not even funny. The icing on the cake is these jokers actually showed you with real world data the difference...

I’d rather glean from the experience of @Wes Siler than a gaggle of retirees drooling over vinyl Ranger decals and other bedazzlements. That aspect of this forum drives me nuts.
I resemble that....I am a retiree, I'm a member of a gaggle, and I do occasionally drool !!!
But not a fan of vinyl decals !!!
Sorry if a bunch of us old farts get to you !!!

Hey, I'm right there with @OFC Ranger when it comes to rolling my eyes at the boomers around here.

But given a choice between them and this hipster?

Where do I buy my chrome bumper?

@Wes Siler is the lovechild of a Wish Bear Grylls and an Ali Babba Joe Rogan. With an ego the size of both of them.
