Hi Folks,

Today I achieved 20 years in retirement from Ford Motor Co. 2/3 of my Ford career...last 5 were Head of Ranger Vehicle Engineering. December 1 of 2002 I closed the door on my career and started a new adventure called retirement... It has been such an underrated adventure and I highly recommend it.

best,
Phil

I’m aiming to in the next couple of years, if not sooner. Gotta lot of road trips to take! :turkey:

Got about 6 more years ahead of me. Not wishing my life away by any means... but I swear some days I am counting the minutes. Life goes so fast, but I can just about smell retirement. Damn corporate America sucks.

Congrats to both of you guys.

Also just recently turned 40+
40? 40?! Hell I got socks that old. ?

Enjoy the ride. 40's are some good years in my opinion. And it goes FAST.

The ONLY good thing about a military pension/retirement. Started when I was 17. Now in the civilian world.

It is

.. different...

Mostly good. More boring than anything.

And I'll try and enjoy my 40s while they last for sure.

Often look back and think "man I should have stayed in."

Looking forward to joining you.

Ironically, I've got about 20 years to go.

Congats Phil, got 4 and a half in myself. When I left I said I'd maybe come back for a small project or two. Six months later when they called, I told them that ship had sailed. Never looked back. Swear I'm busier than when I was working. Loving every day.

Congratulations Phil. That in itself is a major accomplishment. I’m almost 2 years into it. For me the mindset change of retirement has been a transformational journey. Having to unlearn the habits of employment and embracing the new lifestyle opportunities. I concur with your statement that if you have the chance to retire take it.

Ironically my best hires have been people who got tired of retirement and want to come back to work. So much easier to talk to that group. No bullshit. Here is what we have, what do you want... It matches. Awesome.

Not the .. playing word games with the younger crowd.

If you want a job in aerospace vs cars for some beer money. Lemme know. We might have a home for you.
