Going to be devil's advocate — for $20/mo it seems like a good deal for an unlimited data (up to~22G unrestricted) for those on the road on the fringes of cell range... or want a backup service on a different network.

Launching my boat in the bowels of the St Croix Bluffs, MN was a notorious cell dead zone which made communicating with passenger pickups on the river a PITA...

...but the Ranger hotspot still had service which was a nice find during my trial. I'd be willing to bet the UHF antenna is on the roof and offers better gain than a typical pocket cell....

I WFH and didn't renew the trial though. Still pretty cool.

I could never figure out who the hotspot is marketed at. People who don't have decent cel plans? Hot spot plans are an answer in search of a problem.

I could only see it if you had multiple devices without cell service that you would not want to tether to your cellphone. I have never activated it in any of my vehicles that have had the option.

Took advantage of the Unlimited for $200 a year. Has come in overall handy on the highway traveling. When carrier service fails I have the trucks hotspot working so I still have service.

Use mine all the time - I pay $14 for phone with unlimited text, voice, 1gig of data and $23 for Truck hot spot. Thats $37 a month. Plus have access to all Spectrum / Comcast and AT&T hotspots. That about covers it. Never go over anything.

Nope, never used it - have plenty of room on my phone’s plan to use it as a hotspot. Of course, being in Canada, my phone plan costs me this…. ?? +??

That’s what I am thinking but the fact I have to go to the dealer again for them to see if they can activate the SIM card is getting exhausting. ?

I would like to find a way to tell them to shove it I don’t need your stinkin’ hotspot. ?

I just activated my trial plan. I moved out to a more rural area and there are parts here, including at my house, where cell service is terrible. It's been nice to have the wifi in the truck to make up for it. Not sure $20-25 per month is worth it though. Way too expensive IMO.

I recently activated the vehicle hotspot and had no issues doing it on the AT&T website. My phones are through AT&T also. The nice thing is the truck's hotspot does get signal on the backroads when my phones do not.

I was already paying $18 per month for an iPad that I wasn't really using and the vehicle hotspot is $20 per month. I activated the hotspot and cancelled the cell service on the iPad. Getting better reception with the truck is worth the extra $2 per month.

It's supposed to be an active feature of your truck, granted you can turn it off in the Sync settings if you so choose. I would suggest calling Ford's Customer Hotline and let them know your trucks Wifi isn't activated like it should be and that your dealer won't right the issue.

I haven't even thought about using it, even though I activated the free trial. I already pay for 3 cell phones and they all tether.
