Well, went out of town last week to buy a used motorcycle. The Ranger did awesome going there pulling the trailer and coming back with the motorcycle on board. Got 17 to 18 MPG too! Another project that I am working on that I really don't have to have but want. Will I ever learn or will I be a kid the rest of my life??? Just call me a happy kid... LOL!!!

drove to a few river and creek beds, kicked around for some fossils. found several but nothing fantastic. enjoyed being able to use the 4x4 to get a lot closer to the spots and not walking so far. finally did the oil change that i was going to do weeks ago when the jug of oil was stolen lol. cussed at the filter for a few minutes.

Thanks for the great photos and a trip down memory lane 40 years ago. I lived in Houston and then Dallas (Garland, when it was a tiny and poor town). I did Geology for my college work and spent many days in the Hill Country and Big Bend.

I sure do miss Texas and I really, really miss TexMex! =)

Yesterday I drove up to Basin Butte fire lookout, near Stanley, Idaho. Mostly a dirt/rocky trail, but there was a bit of mud...First, a few pictures of the truck at the top... driver's side was still clean(ish).

By the time we got back down to the bottom, though....

A week late, but my wife and I went to West Virginia for our anniversary. Saw the mountains, chilled by the river, and got first mud on the Tremor. Got some huge compliments on her too!

As for today specifically, while sitting in the drive through line at Taco Bell, a car parked in the McDonalds lot nearby and a boy no older than 3 or 4 leaps out of the back seat pointing at my Ranger with wide eyes and an even wider grin. Made my day!

Nothing exciting. Picked up a replacement water heater. Propane hit $4.99 a gallon a while back and it's almost $1000.00 a year for our hot water now. Decided to go Hybrid that is supposed to be about $150.00 a year at my current electric rate. I will believe it when I see it. Should pay for itself quickly. That thing is tall and top heavy plus must be transported in the vertical position. Sure would have been nice to have the center tiedowns Ford deleted.

The price of propane has gone crazy up here. Only using 200 gallons a year has us in the upper price range. Worth a try.

Didn't know there is a hybrid. We have 1000 gallon underground propane tank and will need 150-200 gallons to top off before winter. Here it is about 4.29 a gallon.

Here is the energy sticker for a family of 4 at 12 cents a kwh. With just 2 of us at 16 cents a kwh should be around $100 a year. It theoretically should pay for itself in 2 years.
