I love marketing.
you can make claims and only half back it up and most people fall for it.
I see the aircraft aluminium one all the time. Ford even did it with the F150
Aluminium doesnt "rust" per se, but aluminium still corrodes in many ways for many reasons. Ford thought that most people would fall hook line and sinker for that line.

Theres over 150 grades of stainless steel.
probably a handful fall into "surgical" stainless steel grades

"surgical stainless steel" is just a buzz word for marketing.
they choose specific grades of stainless for surgical tools for the highest corrosion resistance it offers, therefore it costs more to manufacture.

Seems a waste of money to buy "almost" surgical stainless and then powder coat it.
If I'm paying for that high of quality stainless, I want to see it. that's the major attraction to stainless to see that lustre and shine.
Otherwise I can go with cheaper grades of stainless (or gasp! mild steel and galvanize it) and at least boast I have a bracket that meets my requirements and a pocket of cash left.

What grade is it you're using, I would like to make a comparison to the other 149 or so available.

I made the mistake on my boat a few times buying stainless steel hardware and found the screws were very sensitive to fracture of you got careless with the torque. So the positive of stainless in that case, had a very poor drawback.
Most brackets that are ss will be a 409 ss which is magnetic. Like what toolboxes are made of. 304 is the best besides 316 which is medical grade.

Our brackets use 304 Stainless steel.

There are actually 3 types of stainless steel, with a few grades within. Here is a link to a couple non affiliated websites I found to describe them for those that want to really dive in.

http://www.nsalloys.com/stainless-s...f,microstructure or predominant crystal phase.

You are correct. Often times people try to "market" in a way that is deceptive. I try to stick to facts. We don't put lipstick on pigs. It either passes the smell test or it doesn't. If the quality isn't there, we don't offer it. Not to say you can't find cheaper options. You certainly can. We just prefer to be the best. It's that simple.

As far as your comment to see the shine of the raw stainless steel? That's the first time I have heard that to be frank. While in brackets that are plain steel, the black powder coat is the first and only line of defense for rust. That isn't the main reason for it. People (at least the majority) prefer the black textured powder coat for the style and look. The texture gives it a matte/non gloss look. With stainless, you are correct. You don't need the powder coat for rust prevention. So it is still there for style. In fact, our cost is about $5 less per bracket if we don't coat them, so if you prefer a one off set or something with RAW stainless, it can be done. However, I think most purchasers tend to prefer to not have shiny reflective brackets on their hood area reflecting the sun and light.

If the market changes back and people prefer polished stainless and chrome again, then we will adapt. We only like to offer the BEST products, equally at the best prices in comparison to the quality of the products that people want to buy.

Hopefully this helps answer some concerns.

This is starting to look a lot like that scene under the overpass in Man on Fire.

@SPVparts - you’re starting to lose fingers quickly - might be time to exit before, you know…

I am not interested in getting into or wasting time with keyboard warriors who make a living out of trolling and or bashing others on forums to start pointless arguments.

I have received several messages from private users who appreciated comparisons and quite frankly apologized for the way about 3 of you guys are acting.

Forums are not intended to be places for hate speech and bullying. The difference in someone who has an difference of opinion is it is either conveyed as conflicting information, constructive criticism or "Thanks but no thanks, I prefer something else."
Keyboard warriors/Trolls get off on attacking others for some sort of thrill that makes them feel superior? Better about themselves? For some personal reasons... "Got Em" etc. Which quite frankly is very childish. I am not interested in such childish behavior and I won't engage in it.

That said, to clear the air, I never bashed any other vendors. I never said this is junk or these guys suck or anything else. I simply stated the differences when someone who was misinformed about our brackets stated that $150 was way to high compared to others. I simply pointed out product material differences, why the price was higher and compared materials with other products and manufacturers which anyone can point out of my products as well. That's how we improve products. That isn't bashing. What 2 or 3 of you guys however have done is bashing me personally.

Hopefully others can see the difference. As far as anyone who somehow took anything I said offensively, I apologize.

I am here to make friends, not enemies. I think most intelligent people on here see that.

In case anyone missed it, that was a tongue-in-cheek warning that this thread was becoming a dumpster fire and that getting out was a good idea.

This is where things are now.

Maybe it was because I mixed up two different scenes from the movie. ?

Anyway, how ‘bout those Avalanche?

Thanks for taking the time John to explain your company's perspective and what you sell. I agree, most of the time you get what you pay for. Some of us though try to save some money and sometimes buy a cheaper item. BTW, no apology needed on your part. Have a good day!

Well, I did install my A Pillar or ditch lights today. Turned out pretty good with my Diode Dynamics mounts and my cheapie Amazon LED lights. What I can afford right now anyway. Close but not hitting the windshield wiper arm. I am pleased. May upgrade the lights later when the piggy bank is feeling a little fatter!
