I've had my windshield replaced with factory glass already. Didn't mess up the electronics and I still have the "Ranger" logo on the bottom center... Regardless that sucks man sorry to hear it!!

If it makes you feel better I’ve done that same thing before, only it was on a customers vehicle. From then on I never let them stand up without a wiper attached.

Ive done the same, but luckily it never broke the windshield. But I certainly feel for you.

Thanks for the heads up. I changed my wipers shortly after I bought my Ranger because the factory ones were kind of bad IMO. Luckily I didn't make that mistake. When I swap new ones in next time I'll certainly put a folded towel on the windshield just to be safe.

I ordered my new Ranger in December of 2018, it was built in March and I picked it up in Iowa in April. Delivered to the dealer in Iowa at noon on Friday and Saturday morning I was on my way home to Wyoming. 20 miles east of my home the road was being chip sealed and although I was going very slow an on coming vehicle threw a rock and cracked my windshield - less than 24 hours from picking it up! I was not happy but the rule of thumb out here is a windshield a year.

There were no OEM windshields in the system ATT so I waited until I got a replacement in February. OEM windshields are in the system now and as the OP indicates there are a lot of electronics embedded behind the glass, depending upon the model. The company (SafeLite) wanted to install a Chinese knock-off and based on previous experience with a knock-off with another vehicle, I said no and insisted on OEM glass. The cost was $1200 at the time and I have $500 deductible. All the electronic things worked fine immediately and so far so good.

I just changed mine last week. Just curious did you pull the blade up to the locked position or by just lifting it up. I always lock mine and have never had a problem.

To add to the unfortunate news...I've been waiting for a Ranger replacement windshield for 3 weeks. I added a "custom" crack right at about the driver's side line of sight with a rock at highway speeds. It was a Very loud snap/crack, I don't think another vehicle's windshield would have faired any better. On the bright side, I have full windshield replacement covered, On the not so bright side, there ain't no windshields to replace it with.
