This boot is genuine leather and is far more pliable than the naugahyde garbage that the factory boot is made of.

I have no experience with it in cold weather but I think it will be fine.

It's very nicely made.
That's promising to hear then, thanks

Mine should be here in a week or so. Hoping someone is kind enough to do an install video. I know installation sounds pretty straight forward, but visual aide is appreciated!
I didn't make a video but will be glad to help walk you through it.

Thank you so much! I printed out the instructions. I have Rheumatoid arthritis so I don't have a lot of strength in my hands and wrists. Do you think it takes much strength and dexterity to do it?

Well I took the first steps and I have to say this was very easy.

Step 1: Use your trim tool or whatever you have handy and pry the boot up from the rear.

IMG_1466.jpeg

Work the tool around the sides until all of the retainers are loose.

IMG_1467.jpeg

Now pull the boot over the brake handle.

IMG_1468.jpeg

Here are all the retainers on the boot collar. Note the location notches on the boot. The Redline boot has the same locator notches.

And the Redline boot compared to the Ford boot.

Now we're off to see the Wizard of Wally World to get some suitable glue.

I think someone mentioned using Gorilla glue?

Wish me luck.

You are halfway there. Just use contact cement. Let it dry to the touch on both the boot and plastic retainer ring. The leather absorbs the cement so you have to put it on a little heavy. The boot is cut perfect. Just the retainer ring in the boot far enough to fold the locator notches all the way over inside the ring. Press the two together. I used a couple of small clamps to hold things in place while the cement set up. Wait about 20 minutes and put it back in the truck the opposite way it came off. Done!

Pics or it didn’t happen!
And now it has happened :sunglasses:

This is the "frame" after the original boot has been peeled off.

IMG_1473.jpeg

This is the glue I used (contact cement). A package of 4 tubes was under $5. It took almost exactly one tube to do the boot.

IMG_1474.jpeg

Ready to go in...

IMG_1475.jpeg

Pull the new boot over the handle and seat the boot collar in the the groove on the handle. Line up the long fingers with their retainers in the console then snap it down.

And, Voila!

Looks and feels SOOOO much nicer than the faux pleather of the original.

$40 well spent I do believe.
