In depth walk a round showing the new Lightning. It has some really cool features like the built in scales but not $80K worth of cool. Except the tailgate, now that is something worth paying extra for and I hope (wishful thinking I know) is in the next gen ranger.

$80k hum, I think I could use that money to buy another house or something other than an electric truck that I will also have to pay for charging. That's right everyone the electricity is not free anymore like so many think it is. Unless you are a grandfathered in Tesla.

At least the base model is $39K so you can get into an EV for a relatively decent price. But I agree I could do a lot with $80K and buying one of these isn't on the list. Charging for me is almost free as I have solar at my house and I'm at the break even point this year. It does 100% of my house and all I pay are the taxes and fees which average $16.50/month. It was well worth the investment .

I'm more interested in the Ranger hybrid which I really hope comes out next year. If they can just get a little more distance out of it it'll be a home run. But you gotta start somewhere and hopefully these will improve quickly in the next few years.

I too have photovoltaic "solar" and pretty much break-even "0" every year even with my wife's new crosstrek hybrid which is a plug in. I also look forward to the Ranger Hybrid and will upgrade to that when it is feasible and tested. I might have to add a few panels to my off grid solar for the garage to charge the ranger if its a plug in type.

Funny I just started messing around last weekend building a small off grid system. Right now it's only 2-100W panels and I use it to charge my portable power station. It was just something I felt like messing around with and it turned out well. I need to add some folding brackets to the back of them but for now they're just propped up with a wood stake. I can charge it in under 5 hours but we do get a lot of sun here this time of year.

Yeah I agree $80K is a lot of money. But I can see these being very useful on construction sites where there's no power or limited power. I can't tell you how many times one of these would've come in handy when I was back east. I primarily did new construction and there were many times we had no power in the house. We'd have to run 100' cords to either a temp pole or another house and the breaker would trip all day long because everyone was tapping into it.

Yeah not worth 80k. F150 wasnt worth 40k to me. So unless I start to do hot shot work. Ranger is worth the money.

Sticker on my Ranger was $44,800.00 so a F150 at $40K wouldn't be bad right now. lol It is scary how much vehicles are now and there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight.

Looks like the Lighting will be the Paccar at Martinsville this weekend.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/nascar-going-electric-ford-f-191100614.html

NASCAR is going from white lightning to Lightning.

The Ford F-150 Lighting will become the first electric pickup to pace a NASCAR Cup Series race this weekend when it leads the pack around Martinsville Speedway under the lights on Saturday night, April. 9.

The all-wheel-drive 563 horsepower truck should have no problem keeping the pace at 35 mph and could even cover the 400-lap, 210-mile distance of the race at that speed without recharging thanks to its 320-mile extended range battery pack. Even the standard pack's 230-mile rating would cover it.
