Well we haven't been having temps below 30F to know for sure if the additional fluid corrected the weird shifting when cold. Above 30F it has always been fine.
I took mine to dealer yesterday (1200 miles) and asked about checking the fluid as I herd some may be low from factory and we talked about the rough stuff and then we both just kinda shrugged it off till oil change... I may check it myself anyway ... Swore I wouldn't though,
Just took my truck to the dealer for routine oil change and asked if they would check my Trans fluid level. After some waiting I was told that they can't check the level in the QuickLane service line. I would have to make a special appointment with a Transmission Tech to check the level and he is booked two weeks out. So let me get this straight, not only can an owner not check the level, now no Ford tech can check the level unless they are a "Transmission Tech". Who was the idiot that Ok'ed this design? (Personal Rant) I was so angry I told them to forget the whole service. Now I'm going to have to spend the +$200 for the Dipstick kit.

Well we had a few cold days in the 20s last week and the funkiness when cold appears to be gone.
Something doesn't look right in your photos. Why is there no fluid on the dip stick below the diamond between 5 and 4? It looks like you dragged it across the edge of the fill port taking it out and picked up some fluid on the middle of the stick.alright, so I got my truck back a week ago after having the whole transmission swapped. Me now being paranoid about the transmission, although currently shifting smoothly, went out and bought a long extension and a ujoint adapter so I can remove the dip stick cap from the engine compartment. Slid under the truck to check the cold level. See photo below. Now from what I’ve seen on this forum this must be overfilled. Cold truck and 11 degrees Celsius outside. Now how do I go about a removing some fluid without dropping the transmission pan? Will this excess of fluid cause damage? Help.
There’s no fluid below because I grabbed the bottom of the stick with the towel before readjusting to take the photo. No fluid drag. And you cycle the tranny for a cold check? Good to know.
