Agree…I ordered my ‘20 Lariat in 4x4 w/locker. No FX4 package. Rides great and the off road/snowmaggedan assist is there if needed.
well as I stated I went with a XLT SCREW 301a RWD FX2 with locker. I am in sunny SoCal so bad weather is never a problem. 4x4 was just to much in the XLT trim for my budget. I did not want to drop to the XL trim just to get 4x4. Happy with my choice

This YT video really shows the kind of off-roading I am interested in and its more desert running

Just be aware, 2wd, 4wd, or FX-4, your truck will not ride as good as the Fox equipped Tremor in that video.

But a 2wd Ranger should work well for you.

Yes I know. Future upgrade for sure but the fx2/4 shocks will do for now

Enjoy the Truck! We all have to work within a budget (well, until we find this forum!) - sounds like you made the right choice!

4WD also gets you better resale value.

I bought a 4WD because I wanted it. Not for any real need for it. That being said, it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
I agree, but let's keep this in context. Ford charges a hefty $3,750 for 4x4 last I checked. It's about a 1:1 ratio for resale according to the used listings I looked at. Basically, you aren't making money speccing 4x4.

Edit: it was over $3,800 when I just checked.
