Need Quick Help with Catch Can Install

Is this view from top of engine? Bottom?

This is the top of the engine. The black connector is correct for my truck. Apparently, sometime During the 2021 model year, the made this hose run from the bottom to the top. On some 2021 models and all 2019-2020 models, it installs exactly as per the included instructions. But, not mine.

A poster above who’s truck was built in February had both ports down below, like the instructions. But, once you find the orange one, you can just follow hose to the other end, whether it is top or bottom of the engine.

To clarify.... when you said the orange, I wasn't thinking whether or not you were talking about on top. No, the orange on top is not the PCV. It's the orange port on the bottom, behind an AC/Heater line, behind your driver's wheel.

The port I connected to on top went from the orange one down below to the black port in the first picture I posted.

I just installed one of the Mishimoto cans on my 2022 Ford Ranger Lariat and wanted to be sure I had the inlet and outlet ports hooked up correctly. I have my inlet hose going down to the bottom of the motor to the orange port and my outlet hose is going to the top of the motor to the black port. Do I have that configured correctly?

Installed a jlt 3.0 on my 22, unplugged the hose from the red outlet and just attached the catch can hose to where it was and plugged the other end into the hose I took out rather than the top, you think it should be good?

I'm not an engineer or mechanic. I think in theory everything will go where it's supposed to. However, this makes the hose longer. I don't know if that will have an effect or not. @P. A. Schilke might have an answer for you.

HI Kevin,

I bit hard to answer without flow data, but for catch can hoses, it is likely a moot point as the hoses of the same diameter of OEM will likely be of little effect as the distance is relative small increase compared to say front to back of the vehicle, for example... All is contained in the engine compartment. I am not reentering the catch can debate... Contentious as other topics like what oil you use or should use.

My opinion on catch cans is located elsewhere but I retreat into my flame proof bunker...
