That screen is simply saving your trucks profile. Forscan uses this file to know your trucks vin and basic setup like whatodules it has. It is for when you use the computer on multiple vehicles. It has nothing to do with saving the module changes. You need to or should have SAVED each of the module as-built files as a backup before you made any changes, using a file name like "my truck APIM Original" These will be you original backups so you can return the modules back to stock. After that you can edit the module as-built file or make changes to the configuration file for the module. Then you need to WRITE the module back to the truck for the changes to take affect. After doing this and testing your changes you should the SAVE the module to a file using like "my truck APIM todays date". This will be a backup of your changes.

The reason for this because of how Forscan works. When you select a module to edit, Forscan logs into memory from the truck. Then you edit it. Next, you have to WRITE the changes back to the truck for them to take affect. If the changes work and you like them, you can/should make a backup file SAVED to your computer. If the changes didn’t work or you don’t like the change you can load up your last saved backup file and WRITE it to the truck and be back to where you started. Or, you can load up your Original backup and go back to stock.

Sorry for getting long winded, and I hope this all makes sense. Making those original backups is very important, because getting back to stock with out them is very hard unless you keep very good written records of the changes you make.

Have fun tweaking you Ranger.
My first step when opening Forscan was to save all the As Built modules.

All of my changes have been written down and saved under the profile of the same name with “KEITH’s” added in the string but you’re saying this is not correct.
I need to re-save my changed modules under a different name so in my files I have two groups, the As Built (untouched) files saved and other ones saved with all my changes that I added.

Whatever doesn’t work as expected I go back in and undo my change but have yet saved them all.

Im also not changing anything in the “As Built” file and only making changes to the string below it. Seems I read that is what you want to do.

I’m still not finding the correct “Chime” file to stop the “do,do,do” but will look again today. Using the search tab would be an easier route.

Thanks for the reply and long winded answers are just fine with me.

Just to answer what I beleive was your latest question. And one that seems to confuse a lot of new people. The profile that was setup, DOES NOT save any changes you make. It is only a configuration file so Forscan recognizes your truck and can keep track of the backup files for your truck. Once it is created you only need to select it when you log into the truck.

Forscan does not save anything to the truck. It simply over writes the programing of the module in the truck. That is why you need to make the backup files, for each module, to save the original Programming for reloading if necessary.

In my case some of my modules have 4 or 5 backup files, some have only the original. I make a incremental backup, of the module, each time I change something. That way I can always go back to a version I liked if a change doesn't do what I want.

The WIKI thread at the top of the Forscan forum has a good list of known changes that work on our rangers. The "dododo" startup chimes are in the IPC module and you may need to edit the HEX code in the as built module.

Thanks,
the HEX codes is something I’m uneasy about doing right know.
Little more studying and educational videos needed :D

Yes, the configuration file menus are much safer for newbies. They do change the HEX codes but in a predetermined way.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I just keep a file of the stock state of anything I change, and the new value I changed to. I have only made a dozen changes, mostly just convenience things like chimes, ASS, fake engine sound, splash screen and the like. As I computer guy I don't like writing to a EPROM over and over, have had corruption issues in the past. I did back up the 'As Built' files but don't re-write the entire module for every change, just document it. The reason I went with the Ford Tune was due to not having to return the truck to stock every time it went to the dealer for something. I forgot on my MH one time, and the dealers sun machine updated the ECU Strategy, locking out my tune.

Works fine on my 2019 Biturbo Wildtrack
Yes, because the ROW ranger shares a lot of the config. The NA ranger does not, this is a known thing.

Guys....
Noob here!
2020 Ranger XLT, bought the FORScan Lite app for my tablet, bought a OBDLinkMX+.
I was able to complete the brake bleed easily with good results.
I'd like to turn on the Bambi light function and then reset my tire size Tuesday after I get my new tires installed.

I can't seem to figure out how to perform the Bambi light function on the app???

Haven't even looked at tire resizing in it yet either.

Can you guys give me any tips? Can't seem to find info on how to do it???

Thanks,

Chris

First thing is you need the full windows version with an extended license to make any changes to module programing. Forscan Lite does not allow you to make module changes. Once you get that make sure you backup you original module as-built files. Many threads on this.

I have a lighting-related thought/question...

I have my front amber parking lights set as my DRLs. Is there a code to enable the rear amber turn signals to light up as well, like a sort-of rear DRL? Just thinking outside the box.

Anyone using the OBDLink EX? The card states on the back to turn ignition on. But videos on youtube show only turning the acc mode on, not actually starting the truck.
