Okay I figured this out. The fresh air intake for the cabin is above the filter slot in the cabin wall metal. 2 big holes, you can't really see if you look up behind the glove box. If you pop the 3 plastic retainers on the cowling and separate the passenger side you can see them easily. Shit, 12 rats could fit through these holes at once!

It's a pita getting in there and I'm probably going to have to revisit the situation but I was able to gorilla tape some heavy coated metal screen to the outside of the holes.

I'll definitely be checking on this spot to make sure debris doesn't collect but it should be easy to stick air wand up in there and blow anything out.

sorry that makes sense now. isn't that air usually coming from the area below the windshield?
Yes. The chicken wire in question will keep mice out of the engine, if anything.

I've had a mouse in mine chewing on napkins in the glove box. Lived here 20 years, never had that problem before. No idea how Ford managed to make this thing a mouse house.

What's the deal with mice?

Back at the much bigger F150 forums, almost never hear of mice chewing up stuff.

What did ford use in these things? I'm stuck living in a city, but even I'm slightly paranoid...

It has nothing to do with what the vehicle is made of, I have had mice in all brands and all vintages over the past 43 years living in the same house.

Mice, squirrels, rabbits all go in cycles. This year where I live it's been squirrels. They will get up under the hood of a car and chew wiring, not so much into the interior, but I have had them in the attic of my house.

Used to have a couple of Dachshunds thay would run them selves ragged trying to catch squirrels and every once in a while they would. But if a rabbit came into the yard it was history. The two I have now just sit in the screen house and bark at them.

Interesting. I was surprised by a mouse in my cabin 2 days ago. Found droppings and piss all over the place. It was in there for 2 days. I have NO CLUE how it got in there. I also found a couple pieces of chewed up wire, and was unable to determine (yet) what it got to. The first place I looked was under the seats. I have a 2020 Lariet with power everything and so far the seats still go back & forth and up and down. I still need to check the seat warmers. Any ideas how a mouse could get in?
I discovered earlier today where the chewed up wires came from. Apparently the damn mouse chewed up the wires to my rear window defroster. Chewed up on both sides. There is not enough of visable wire left on each side to splice enough to fix myself. The side panels will need to be removed to determine if there is enough slack to fix without having to pay for an entire wire harness on both sides. This sucks.
I'm going to have the dealer give me a quote on the 15th of the month. I'm expecting it to be expensive and I'll have no choice in the matter.

I got some anti-rodent-tape, which is supposed to prevent chewing on the wires/harnesses that the tape is applied to.

It's extremely expensive ($50) per small roll, so I'm trying to prioritize : what wires/cables should I protect?
What are the most common wires/harnesses that rodents chew?
Is it inside the engine bay, or around the undercarriage?

Wow that little rat really caused some damage! I'd make it my life mission to find him and destroy him once and for all. ?

not entirely....

from the interweb....RATS AND MICE ARE AGILE MAMMALS. A mouse can get through a small, 6-7 mm hole (about the diameter of a normal-sized pen) and a rat can get through a 20 mm hole
That means a 9mm hole will fit a rodent just fine, FMJ of course, ain't wasting a hollow point

Can’t keep a good man down, huh? Already out of the hospital bed and causing trouble. I think I may have finally figured out who you really are….
