Hi, just want to start a thread about onboard air and also to see other members setups.
I also wanted to share where I put mine and why I went with the ARB twin compressor.
It was abit of a pain trying to run wiring from battery to bed...but it’s all worth it in the end.
Some of you guys already know, I modded one of the factory swing out tool box to hold my ARB compressor.
https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...m-swing-out-tool-boxes.2397/page-2#post-31548
Anyway, I’ve been lucky with ARB twin compressor in the past with my Jeeps, that’s why I chose to install it in the Ranger. Aside from airing up, I also like the versatility to be able to run air tools (135 up to 150 psi per ARB) when needed.
During a test I was surprised how quickly the Aircat/ ARB combo took a lug nut off with ease.

So please, If you have different locations or ideas for onboard air, you can share them here.:)
I know under the hood behind the drivers side headlight, there’s a small area that can prob fit a small compressor, but I couldn’t use it cause the ARB twin is huge. LoL.

I don't have my truck yet but I was thinking about trying to find a hole between the frame somewhere. Maybe in front of the gas tank? Not sure if that's even practical. It would require custom brackets and splash shields of course.

I have a powertank I swap from truck to truck. Portable and it will run anything. I'm use to using it to air up 37's so it should last on something like this a very long time.
How long does it last or how long between refills?
I would like to try a powertank, but theres not alot of CO2 fill stations in my area.

Here's a good comparison from a couple years back: Man, that CO2 system is fast. For the DIY type, it can be built pretty cheap. hmmm

Tested the setup today at a 4 wheel drive fishing area, Robert Moses State park (Lots of loose soft sand and deep ruts).
Using Staun deflators, each tires were running at 18-20 psi. The ARB twin aired them all at 2-3 minutes each back to 37psi. (with me checking the tire pressures in between). It definitely cut down my air up time, so I’m happy. :)

I have a 2000w generator I will be bringing on all of my trips. Charge stuff, light stuff, even run a space heater in the tent if needed. Have a 2gal Kobalt compressor Home Depot special I will bring along as well to air up. And an emergency 12v compact compressor as a backup

Your setups look really nice but too fancy for me right now lol

Cool set up...is that a one gallon tank? I have a Harbor Freight Fortress silent compressor that I plan installing in the bed along with my Honda generator after I get a Diamondback cover installed...

I’ve been using my Dewalt cordless air compressor. Able to air up from 15-40 psi in 20 seconds per tire. Decided it was the best if both worlds in compromise instead of installing one on the truck.
