I spent 20+years formulating engine oil additive systems for diesel trucks. I would not recommend use of any aftermarket oil additives. They will cause issues and likely just end up in the oil filter. Save your money and buy a good oil.

To answer your question: YES

Also(from the Owner's Manual)(I added the bold font):
We recommend Motorcraft® motor oil for
your vehicle. If Motorcraft® oil is not
available, use motor oils of the
recommended viscosity grade that meet
API SN PLUS requirements and display the
API Certification Mark for gasoline engines.
Do not use supplemental engine oil
additives because they are unnecessary
and could lead to engine damage that your
vehicle warranty does not cover.

Back in the day, before Andy G., Richard Petty pushed STP...and we all went for it.
It was the 60's and engine tolerance's were measured in inches back then, not micron's like today.
STP was a catch-all to thicken up anything in your engine, rear axle, or manual tranny.
Any noise in any of them you just poured 2-3 cans of that magic elixer....it was a sure fire cure. and it worked, until the noise came back and we used more of it.
After all, would Richard Petty lie to us ?

Modern oils are good enough that they don't need additives.
Back in the day STP could be somewhat helpful but oils weren't as good then. It was only helpful if you used it all the time, not after you already had issues.
The only additive anyone really needs is a zinc additive IF you are driving an older vehicle with flat tappet lifters.
Years ago I got hip to an internal engine cleaner on BITOG called Auto-RX which I have used on used vehicles I've bought and it does seem to work as advertised.

A sure fire way to tell if it's snake oil is to see if it recommends shaking it up before adding.

If it settles sitting in the bottle on the shelf, it's going to settle in your oil pan too.

With the tolerances being so tight in modern engines, I don't want any fairy dust floating around in there that could cause blockages.

Not a chemical guy but it sounds to good to be true becaise it is. I got an good laugh out of the reverses existing engine wear. Remember STP it made a lot of the same claims in its day. Nothing more than a viscosity increaser.

Just use a good full synthetic oil of the recommended grade and change it regularly. Forget about the additives with their wild claims and keep your warranty intact.

Does that mean adding STP could help with the damage oil dilution is doing by increasing viscosity?

My younger brother used to buy Lucas oil stabilizer for his cars. He was an amateur drag racer an believed "if they use it in those big money engines it must work an not do any harm". He didn't want to hear they got paid to use it.

Most people want to get protection and as much longivity out of their vehicles as possible. My view is not scientific but practical. I don't feel that it is a good idea to add anything to the oil. Quality oil is designed for modern vehicles to give the maxmum lubrication and protection as long as it is changed at substancial intervals. See Edmunds video below which shows how to choose the right oil and also mentions needed additives that are already included in oil that is retailed. I believe that Ford's advice about additives on p. 263 of the owners manual is correct and the safest route...
