Has anyone purchased and installed a tailgate dampener yet? I have one on the shelf but no ranger to install it in yet...still on order
I purchased the DeeZee but ship date isn’t expected until June. Panda is working on one too with a May-June timeline.

I don't remember reading it :( but that doesn't mean you didn't lol. Guess I will find out when my ranger arrives on 5/5 ha
There has been a lot to read here lately (which is good). I could have gotten confused, but I have ordered the DeeZee one - latest update from CarID.com is May delivery - but it keeps changing. I ordered it back in December.

I ordered a tailgate dampener because I have young kids. I was concerned if they opened the tailgate it would fall on their head or hurt them. Trucks don't have to be stupid for them to be "trucks".

I agree with all of those. The tailgate assist missing is lame, as it's standard on the 2019 F-150. Wireless Car Play, and for sure power back window, also available on the F-150. I also agree that a bigger engine option would have been nice.

I thought I read that the side steps were retractable, got my Lariat last night and it doesn't look like they retract.

So I'm the only one that thinks that a tailgate damper is a solution in search of a problem and rolls his eyes every time a reviewer slams the tailgate down in shock?

IMHO - If you never had a tailgate damper, you'll likely never even give it a second thought because this is normal for the past several decades. However, once you get one and use it, it's a nice feature. I just open the latch and walk away and it would softly go down. The real issue is when you then go back to a traditional tailgate and accidentally slam it because you are used to the damper.

I do think it is kind of a ridiculous jab - however after seeing it in person, it is a really nice feature. It is not a must have for me, but a nice to have - kind of like power folding mirrors.

It would have been nice these were available as part of the standard package. I’m glad they can both be added easily (in part because of this forum) for cheap in just a few minutes.

I just checked the accessories ford store and there isn't a damper add-on. What do you mean it can be added?

DeeZee is producing one for the Ranger. It isn't out yet, but should be soon.
