I would love it if they got rid of SS and returned all I've payed into it. I remember when they were thinking of doing that years ago and it riled up a lot of people so they left it as is. For the little you get I could quadruple my money having had the option to not pay into it. Problem is there are way to many who can not handle their money and would still end up with nothing. These are the same ones who stand in line overnight in the rain waiting for the newest iPhone to go on sale or hit up Starbucks everyday for their daily $8.00 frappuccino.I say start with Social Security. Terminate that program and refund any money issued into it by someone not of age to utilize it. Grandfather those in that are retired and once they die off that user base will slowly dwindle.
I am OK with SS Disability though. I do however think verification of being disabled should be way more stringent. That shit is rife with BS approval claims about as bad the VA and veteran disability pay outs. I know that is going to rustle a lot of jimmies saying that, but veterans themselves will tell you all about their friend Bob who gets a 100% classification check, but is off working a full time job doing construction now.
Yup, the money that is taken by force from your check could be making a whole lot more money. Also correct that most people couldn't manage a bologna sandwich if their life depended on it.I would love it if they got rid of SS and returned all I've payed into it. I do agree about the SSD but good luck trying to make that honest.
You know what, thats the cost of being in business, and you knew that going in Just like you have to have insurance to finance a home or own a car. You also have to pay for schools in your property taxes, even if you dont have kids. Dont like it go live in a tent! None of these costs come back either. Don't like it, don't participate and own it. Otherwise suck it up and pay up!Being self employed for 35 years I've always payed for my healthcare. There are no credits unless you're on the ACA which obviously I don't qualify for. You wanna know what else isn't fair? How about us self employed having to pay DOUBLE FICA and never seeing double the amount back!
Like I said originally I have no problem pay taxes as long as they go towards their intended use, not in someone else's back pocket.

That's not inflation, that's California being California! So glad I got out of there in the 80s.Inflation is a real thing. Get used to it or buy Kleenex in bulk.
I would agree with that if there was a stipulation that anyone that chose that option could not ever file bankruptcy or qualify for any benefits, ever!I would love it if they got rid of SS and returned all I've payed into it. I'm not sure I make the connection between those things.I would agree with that if there was a stipulation that anyone that chose that option could not ever file bankruptcy or qualify for any benefits, ever!
I love how so called Americans throw their fellow citizens under the bus. Look at how many corporations cant even manage their own finances and file bankruptcy time after time. I think I remember a former leader of a large democracy that took that socialist bailout path 5 times or so. I think its more like too many people are following the example of their leaders, whether they are corporate or political.Yup, the money that is taken by force from your check could be making a whole lot more money. Don't get me started on government cash welfare programs. If someone can't manage $100 they sure as hell can't manage $1,000 and they will probably be dead from hookers and blow if you handed them $1,000,000.
This isn't even speculation. Most lottery winners are either dead or broke within 5 years.
Who says I do not have anger for corporate welfare?I love how so called Americans throw their fellow citizens under the bus. SS would be more than sustainable if they stopped robbing the piggy bank. Actually it was designed to be sustainable, so long as the fund and its funding isn't taken. Im only 50 and totally plan on getting every cent I can because I plan on taking it at 62 and not working till Im dead.I'm not sure I make the connection between those things.
Also you do realize people collecting SS now are getting a prepayment from future generations right?
SS was never sustainable.
The money I've put in has already been spent by retired boomers. Its not being saved for me.
Edit: Also if I die before 65 I see no return on my money. However if I was allowed to invest it myself I could reap the enjoyment from it long before that age.
SS is a scam and the only people who are salty about terminating it are people who are about to enter retirement or already on it. I'll allow for those already in it to be grandfathered, but everyone else should get a refund and the program terminated moving forward.
Add medicare to that list while we are at it. Allow truly disabled people as I mentioned before to have it. I'm not heartless. I am however not about paying for other people who shouldn't be entitled to my shit.

I'm looking forward to my senior citizens discount at the local cafeteria style restaurant. I'm gonna murder some tapioca! You'll be lucky if they still have that option to take it at 62. Even if they do it's a dumb move unless you really really need it. To many people are fixated on "breaking even and getting my money back". I hear it all the time "what if I die" when you should be asking yourself "what if I live"! The payout at 62 is so small and the gains you get by waiting longer far outweigh "breaking even".
SS was never in my retirement plan because I knew long ago it was a Ponzi scheme! If it's there than great but no way I'm taking it at 62. You have a guaranteed payout for the rest of your life sitting there why would you take the smallest amount? If you cant make ends meet then ok but if it's to just take it to get even it's a dumb move.
