Looking to purchase a good tire inflator I can use to put air back in my tires after deflating for beach drives or other off-road terrain. Anyone have any experience using these to re-inflate 4 tires? Any brand/model suggestions?

I have a Viair 88 that is popular choice. It connects to the battery terminals, which I would recommend over a plug in type. I had one of the plug in types once and it would blow the fuse for the 12 volt outlet. Plus they can overheat and are slower. A connection to the battery is best. This one will do up to a 33” tire

I second the choice of a Viair product as Rob mentioned. I use the 300P for my Jeep.

I have the ARB Portable and it works great. Got the Ford Performance branded one with my Ford Pass Points.

What I have never seen mentioned is the Dewalt inflator that uses the 20 volt tool battery. I have Dewalt tools, so I bought one. I use it all the time to tweak the PSI on my Ranger’s tires.

It does come with a 12 volt cord, so it can be used without a battery, but I use a 5Ah battery. I have aired up a totally flat tire on a Chevy van. It took a while, but the battery held up. It has some usage limitations to prevent overheating, but I have used it 2, 3 even 4 times more that it’s specified runtime, even in hot weather, and it never shut itself off and it’s still working after a couple of years of regular use.

it also has a low pressure setting that I use to inflate a swimming pool that my daughter plays in.

It has an air pressure gauge. You set the pressure you want and press go. It stops when it reaches the set pressure. I keep thinking that I’ll buy something better if this breaks or no longer meets my needs, but it keeps doing the job.

My son picked up the Milwaukee version it’s 18V. I was pretty impressed by a battery operated compressor. Fast, quiet and decent tank size. The portability is what make this a nice unit.

Lol so here is what I did!! I got the Ford Performance portable kit!! I also decided to make it a full on-board kit because thats the kind of person I am!! Wich compressor does Ford use? They use the ARB single compressor that is reated to fully inflate a 37 inch tire in 2 minutes. How well does it work? Verry well!! I think I can inflate all my tires between 5-10 minutes from 18 to 30 psi. Here are some pictures of my little setup

Very happy with our ViAir 88p so far. We have the stock 265/60R18 Dynapros on our '21 Lariat.

I have a similar battery powered Makita inflator (I have Makita tools) that I keep in the garage when I need to top off my tires. I love it for that purpose, but I wouldn’t trust it to put 10-15 pounds in four tires out on the trail. These devices simply aren’t intended for that.

I can't recommend the Milwaukee M12 inflator enough. I absolutely love mine. Super portable, set the psi and walk away, don't have to worry about hooking into the battery, don't have to worry about running air lines and mounting a tank, and cheaper than on board air. I don't need to be able to run air tools or fill a 40" tire in under a minute. I just need to top off the tires and this is perfect.

Rene, I've had my Viair 88P for almost 2 years now and it works great. I usually air down to 16-18 psi and can fill back up in roughly under 5 mins per tire to 32 psi. It comes with a case and it's small and portable and I just lay it on the hump in the back floor.

The only thing I don't like about rechargeable ones is you always need to make sure they have a good full charge before going out. Last thing you want to deal with is a dead/low battery when you're trying to air back up. Plus if you're away on vacation it's one less thing to think about having to make sure the battery is charged.

I love it too, and I agree with you that these are not made for inflating higher volumes, but I take this to work with me to top off tires on vans and I often go from 35 PSI to 70 PSI on two rear tires and 35 PSI to 55 PSI on two front tires and the Dewalt inflator does it. I have contemplated getting a second one. It would still be cheaper than buying one more "capable" inflator.

Based on that I got one of the recommended least expensive versions.
