There was a 3” down pipe, AFE straight through exhaust, AFE intake, AFE inner cooler tubes, and a new tune for every modification... Stage 3 was there, all the way... they never balked... Ford has a similar tune. I know its not the same, but are we starting to split hairs?. And this is where it gets really exciting... they wouldn’t cover my Ford Motorsport Exhaust, under warranty... where would my Ford Tune go from there? Covered or not? Voided Warranty?? Let’s play the game Chess Players!! Basically sounds like, that you can‘t touch your truck at all... So why should I buy a K/N Air filter from Autozone for a little boost in horsepower to void my warranty... 15 hp, doesn’t seem worth it ?

Me and D Fresh are going to be friends again.... ??? and I’m being true with that D Fresh.. so basically, what Ford is telling me, is that they cant install the Ford Motorsport High Performance exhaust, because it would void my Warranty... then why would I buy any performance parts from Ford?? Just asking, for a friend...

It's good to see that 5 Star is taking care of you! In some of your posts it sounded like you were on your own so I think most of us thought they left you high and dry, especially when you were asking if we thought you should pay to have another dealer look at it. Hopefully you can get your truck back soon as I'm sure you're beyond frustrated, heck I am and it's not even mine. lol Good luck!

Hey man, I hope you get squared away and glad to hear Stage 3 is taking care of you.

In reference to your Ford not covering Ford Performance parts ... that sounds similar to how Harley would sell performance parts and state "for off road use only" presumably to get around EPA and warranty things. But if you had a good dealer they would stand behind you.

You have to do the research, before you buy the parts. Some parts void the warranty, some don't.

Don't assume just because the parts come from Ford your warranty will be intact.

It does sound like Ford just saw MODS! (ZOMG!) and decided they were absolved of any component failure.

If it's just intake (not intercooler+throttle body), catback exhaust (not fat downpipe) I don't perceive the validation.

IF there was a higher output turbo, higher flowing injectors and the other mods that don't appear to have been done WITH a mistake in the tune which seems unlikely I just don't get it. Did the oil filter fail?

Do you assume a tune and mods do absolutely nothing at all? Then why do any of it? People are trying to get more performance out of their engine. Ford sold an engine configured to produce a certain output. Ford certainly could have changed the settings themselves and put it up to 11...so why didn't they? Answer: Ford picked numbers that were the sweet spot on the curve between delivering a higher power product and delivering a product that had too many failures. Can you get more power out of the engine? Sure. Is there a higher likelihood of failure if you get more power out of the engine? OF COURSE. Ford picked the numbers they picked to limit their liability. If you pick different numbers, you also get to take on the liability. Does that mean that every tuned engine will fail? No. Which ones will fail? Who knows. What's the magnitude of the increased failure rate? Ford probably knows, but nobody else is likely to find out. But wait? Doesn't ford sometimes increase the numbers themselves? Yes--and they charge enough for it to assure a profit on top of the costs associated with an increased failure rate.

It sounds like you haven't talked to Ford at all, and that you're confusing Ford and your dealership. I personally would throw all the parts in the back of the truck and tow it somewhere else with a reputation for good customer service, but you seem like you want to stick with these jokers for some reason.

The dealership sends the tear down data to Ford and Ford decides if it's under warranty.

Calling the dealership "jokers" baffles me. They did exactly what was agreed to do, and they quoted a price to do the repair.

That doesn't change the fact that he doesn't seem to have actually talked to anyone from Ford. He keeps complaining about Ford, but seems to only be talking to the dealership. Who knows what the dealership has done.

The stuff about refusing to touch Ford performance parts, etc. There are way too many reports (and I've seen it myself) of dealers who don't know what they're talking about to assume that any particular dealer is competent. If you get bad vibes from a dealer, just go somewhere else--there's zero reason to stick with just one if you don't think you're getting good service.

I love how nobody mentions the Magnussen Moss Warranty Act anymore Basically the manufactures out is "We engineered it for X, and you made it do Y which is not X, warranty denied" and that's to the letter of the law. It's crappy, but that's all they need to say (proven by this thread).

Because it applies to using third party parts that meet manufacturer spec, not to intentionally running the system out of spec.

The truck will be worked on at the Ford Dealership Mac Haik in Pasadena, I asked Mac Haik about installing the Ford Performance Exhaust that I already purchased, to save me some money... Nope, the exhaust voids the warranty... It has to be completely stock, as from the manufacturer to reinstate the warranty... the warranty won’t be a new 3/36,000 mile etc, it will just be a continuation of my current warranty, which I’m at 20,000 miles... So I basically have to buy all new parts, just to take them all off and replace them again... it’s ridiculous...

to everyone else that has been supportive, I have said before, my life commitments need to be kept. I update when I can, but Stage 3 Motorsports, is helping, and I will be paying out of pocket as well... I’ll be glad to get my truck back, cause I’m sick of driving rentals...

Regarding the stock/performance parts. Did you save your stock takeoff parts? This might be farfetched or I am missing something, but what would be stopping you from having the truck towed home before the works starts (assuming you have AAA) and taking off the performance parts and either reinstalling or providing the dealer with the takeoff parts (assuming you saved them, or would pay their labor rate to install). If no takeoff parts were saved then why can't they let you take off the performance parts and include new stock parts as part of the bill?

Not trying to bombard you with questions. Just trying to express an idea. Maybe it isn't feasible
