Well I have a "tune" that does everything. It came with my truck installed by the factory. "tune" is the new status thing. It used to be "cam" or "carb". It means that you have an incompletely re engineered engine. ?

I'm considering a tune on my 2021... thanks for the update. One quick question. I understand you can only use premium after the tune? Thanks in advance.

I contacted Ford performance and told me to email them. They are completely unaware that others are having an issue not knowing about the towing. They 100% changed their website and I’m not going to stop. This is the email I sent. I’m beyond pissed right now.

“
To whom it may concern,

I am emailing you in regards to the Ford Performance tune (M-9603-REB) I ordered for my 2020 Ford Ranger. https://www.stage3motorsports.com/m...-ford-performance-power-pack-calibration.html).
At the time of my purchase the Ford Performance website made no mention of the fact that it was not recommended to use for towing. In fact I ordered this specifically for towing. I am not the only one who was unaware of this. There is an entire page on a forum dedicated towards this issue (https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/ford-performance-tune-update.11274/).
The first word I saw about this was around mid to late December. With that being said there is a post that specifically states a Ford Performance rep stated that towing with this tune with void the warranty (It is the 8th post on the page). I went through great lengths to ensure my warranty would not be void by first ordering a Ford Performance tune and not a 3rd party one and secondly by paying an extra $215 to have an ASE certified mechanic install it for me. I was able to find a Ford website saying the towing capacity of a Ford Performance Level 2 Ford Ranger is 3500lbs (https://www.maxwellford.com/new-Aus...PERFORMANCE+PACKAGE+LEVEL+2-1FTER4FH4LLA67199). This Ranger has the tune. If that is the case why was it stated as 3500 and not 0? Why wasn’t that made clear to everyone? Why is the number even 3500 from the original 7500? In addition when there was multiple articles written before the release of this product and after that do not state there is a limitation for towing. Most notably MotorTrend (https://www.motortrend.com/news/2019-2020-ford-ranger-ecoboost-ford-performance-power-pack/) where they state, “ The Power Pack also is pretty worry-free, having been engineered, evaluated, and dyno-tested by Ford Performance. It also is 50-state legal, so your smog guy won't get grump, and backed by a Ford Performance 3-year/36,000-mile warranty when installed by a Ford dealer or certified technician. The only caveats for that warranty? You can't run a tire larger than 265/70/R17, and you'll have to feed your Ranger premium fuel. Ignore those rules, and you can have your Power Pack and big wheels, too—but wave goodbye to that warranty.”.
If MotorTrend doesn’t know about is limitation how am I supposed to? Another extremely notable source if from you guys directly (https://performance.ford.com/enthusiasts/media-room/2020/6/ranger-parts.html?cks=23689030553&emailid=FP_FASTNEW). In your press release you state absolutely nothing about towing. So with all that being said what are you going to do for me? Why am I facing the negative effects of your failure to originally state this? Even if you state that it doesn’t void my warranty I want to know what damage has occurred or potentially further down the road because this wasn’t stated. I’m not the only one feeling lied to. I’m not the only one who is dealing with this exact issue. I’m out close to $900 up front because of this. Not to mention whatever potential damage has or will occur to my engine... When I called the Rep up I was told most tunes will state if you can tow or not with it. That is not for me to guess and figure out. You listed what the requirements were originally and now for some reason have changed them. What is your plan of action? What is the max tow rating on this item if it has one? What are your plans for everyone who ordered this tune to use their truck as a truck and tow? I will be updating others on your emails and response.”

If anyone has screenshots showing they changed their page please contact me.

(Update)
I contacted Ford Performance again to try and get a little more info and the guy I contacted basically danced around the questions I asked and said he would have to ask engineering. He basically said if my engine hasn’t blown up it’s still covered... and yes that’s basically what he said. Either your engine will have problems towing with the tune or it won’t. I’m going to post all of the correspondence I have with them. So everyone can see what’s going on for themselves.

Depends on the tune supplier. Livernois gives you 5 tunes.

1. 91-93 octane performance tune.
2. 91-93 octane soft shift tune.
3. 87-89 octane performance tune.
4. 87-89 octane soft shift tune.
5. A tow tune.

I realize this is a Ford Performance tune thread. Just showing other options.

Thank you for sending them this aggressively (but justifiably so) worded e-mail. This is definitely frustrating to learn after having already paid the extra for the OEM-affiliated tune to secure my warranty. Especially so since one of my motivations in getting the FPP tune specifically was to have a little extra capability on tap for towing over the mountains near where I live.

Here is a link to an internet archive copy of the FPP M-9603-REB product website from October of last year. The verbiage on the towing limitations is missing.

Print that page out, and if you contact a lawyer have them print it as well. I don't know how well that archive will hold up to a lawyer sending a request to have them pull the archive.
