Do you know if they have changed the screen brightness when in reveres at night? The brightness of the screen is atrocious and ruins my night vision. Its the one thing I really wish would get changed.
This.

The nighttime brightness is OK when in normal operation, but when you shift into reverse it's like the sun came up in your dash.

I can report that by adding the 4U5T-14G422-CAC file the navigation menus now work just as expected. Also no longer noticing any stutters so far. I'm really enjoying the 3.4 update. It looks overall to be working more smooth. You and your teams did a great job on this! I'd buy you a beer if I could. :handsinair::beer::like:

One observation is that under settings-> display, there looks to be an option for changing brightness but it remains grayed out when driving or parked. I can't remember seeing this in 3.2. Maybe new and not supported on specific vehicle model?
So, could you summarize exactly which SW packages you installed to get to 3.4 and where did you find that SW?

Not sure. I know a while back they changed something with how the auto-brightness works, but I also want to say there's some regulation somewhere that says how bright it has to be for displays in R. I haven't noticed any excess brightness on either of my personal vehicles though.

Has anyone gotten the sync 3.4 update from the owner.ford website..still says my ranger is up to date which can't be right.

Thanks

Talked to Ford today via the owner website. In regards to the notification that was sent to all about an update pending from Ford they said was sent out by mistake. As for a timeline for Sync 3.4 update they did not have any official information on when that would be happening it at all for 2019s. Unfortunately, looks like the only current options is a "beta" update as mentioned in the first post.

From the SYNC side, it wouldn't show anything for multimedia. It'd be a blank message like an SMS with photo, etc. are now. The content from the message has to be passed over the MAP protocol. if SMS is coming but RCS isn't, then it's exceedingly likely the phone side app hasn't implemented the ability to send over MAP yet. And AA it could be different, but there are NHTSA guidelines to consider not running afoul of, and OEMs are rather strict, sans the Europeans.
Sounds almost certain it's app dependent, then, thanks for the info. I just use the default Google Messages app and so far haven't noticed any problems, but I'm not sure if that app supports RCS yet, or if it does whether I'll be able to easily tell the difference between SMS and simple RCS messages. As you alluded to, Google maintains pretty tight control over AA and which apps are allowed access.

My mustang was MFT (Sync 2) and my god is Sync3 just so much nicer. You didn't really notice it when you used it, but now that it's not around the difference is night and day.

So, could you summarize exactly which SW packages you installed to get to 3.4 and where did you find that SW?
I pieced things together so it is difficult to lay out exact steps without the ability to start over with a clean 3.3

The files I needed are here:

NA 118 maps https://syncnavigation.com/
I believe you should upgrade your maps from 117 to 118 before doing the 3.4 upgrade as the installer may not be compatible with 3.4. I did it after and while it said it installed successfully, I had a missing package for map voice. I applied that package manually after and everything works now.

Maybe a brave soul wants to do it over and share their experience so we can put together a solid guide for others.

I followed the steps in the link from this posting:

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/rcmustangs-magnetic-fx4.2048/page-13#post-95677

I ended up doing the optional 19274 upgrade at the end. The only oddity I've noticed (which was since fixed) was that I lost the climate menu on the Sync screen. After a FORScan tweak, it is back now and I've not seen or heard any other odd issues thus far.

It worked exactly as stated in that posting. Total time for all 3 installs was less than an hour. Quite a bit faster than the map upgrade I did a while back.

Hi Rob

I still fail to get the map update to load...Spent $40 for Ford's memory stick...same problem. Called the help desk at Ford Customer Care...could not help...got a trouble ticket number and a promise that someone would call me back in 24 to 48 hours. 5 days later, no call. My opinion continues to be SYNC SUCKS!
