A few sprinkles, nothing significant. Most of the drive out to Tuweep was nice gravel roads, but the last few miles are a bit more technical. This is probably the first time I’ve put any of my suspension mods or the big chunky tires to real use.

Weather got bad. We came home a week early. Weather was so bad they cancelled our Lake Michigan ferry ride from Milwaukee to Muskegon. Horrible trip due to weather. Did use a day to do the Taliesen tour and Frank Lloyd Wright Museum near Spring Green. That was good day!

After a long day of hiking and fishing the Kern river, creeks and Lake isabella i headed over to the 395 side to sleep close to the trailhead I planned to hike the next morning. This spot was great but the mosquitos were relentless so I moved a bit further from the river.

Still a couple vampires here but it was pretty perfect and manageable with a bit of bug spray. I pulled up just in time to soak my feet while having dinner after a long day of hiking. Listening to the frogs and the water all night was magic.

Night 2 was supposed to be at an alpine lake accessible by a pretty rough 5 mile 4x4 trail, about 1/3 the way up a few jeeps let me know the trail was still snowed in at the top and impassable.

I turned around and was happy to save the effort and daylight and headed for a spot perched above some natural hot springs. Took a dip in the hot springs and the soak was amazing after a 8.5 mile 1500 ft gain hike. It was a cold one, my dogs water bowl froze overnight so im pretty happy we didn't end up sleeping at 10k elevation. In the morning i got in the truck cranked the heat and once I got enough dexterity in my fingers to break camp I packed it up and headed on my way.
