Haven't had an issue with it personally.

I prefer leather, or "pleather," it cleans up better and holds up better than cloth in my experience.
Very true. I tend to get a little sweaty on leather. But good point about the cleaning ease :)

Anyone with a crew cab wish they went with a super? Or vic versa? I am leaning to a super for more bed space. Single dude here with no kids. Maybe a dog in the near future.

Luv the supercab. Couldn't live without 6 ft bed and I think it looks better from the side profile.

edit: Also love the doors on the supercab - longer and much easier to get in and out.

I have and XLT tremor with remote start. I love it. I do miss heated seats and will add them aftermarket. I also miss heated mirrors, but not a deal breaker. I like having the crew cab, makes it more versatile for traveling. The XLT allowed me to get most of what I wanted at a price I was comfortable with.

Previous replies have hit on all the important issues. I would reiterate that I did not get a Lariat mostly because of the leather seats, figured I would live without LED headlights and the B&O sound system. Wasn’t worth the extra money to me, better spent elsewhere. No regerts!

As to the cab size, if the dog in your future is medium to large size, get the Crew. I have Springers and getting them into the back of Scab would be tough.

A couple other minor changes between the XLT and Lariat in addition to what has been mentioned here:
  • Turn signal indicators on the side mirrors
  • Puddle lights on the side mirrors
  • I believe the Lariat seats are more adjustable, but I'm not 100% on this

I also debated XLT vs Lariat quite a bit with my custom build.
Ultimately, I chose XLT with 302A and tech packages as the better value, and more practical (for my uses)

- I liked the XLT cluster more
- liked cloth seats. Leather heat up in sun, and esp after reading about how the leather cracks if not maintained. CLoth on my 97 ranger held up perfectly forever
- rain sensing wipers nice, but not needed
- arguably less easy to steal due to needing a physical key (again, debatable, but my opinion is physical key is higher security)
- I also chose supercab since a 5 ft bed is tiny for my purposes (including sleeping in the back under a canopy)

The biggest difference to me is the led lighting in the lariat. It would cost at least a grand or so to do the headlights alone on the XLT... The gap between a 301A XLT and a base lariat is only a couple grand. To me, I don't want leather or the sliding rear window, but the lariat perks are appealing. Push button start and body color mirrors/handles are also important differences to me.

You can get heated seats in the XLT even tremor. Need to spring for the 302a

Better aftermarket headlights 750$ and they look much better too. BTW 302a also have rear window on XLT. One thing to note many hate the lariat dash. It has 2 digital and 1 analog vs the much cleaner 2 analog and 1 digital in the center on the XLT trim

I actually prefer the lariat cluster. More configurable for extra info. I ignore the XLT 302A, adds a bunch of lariat features without the best lariat perks for me lol. And I like oem more than the alphas, mishi, etc, anyway :p The halogens are unusable to me so they'd have to go. Really wish we could get LEDs and push button start in the XLT.

Add that the Lariat has the Homelink buttons for garage doors, gates, etc.
