Wifey had to have her seatbelt retractor repaired under warranty in her Edge and they gave her what seems to be a pretty baseline '24 Bronco Sport. I actually didn't hate it.

As long as you stay away from stupid colors like baby blue.
During my transmission diagnostic I was given the baby blue and white Bronco Sport. It gets great fuel mileage but I wasn't a fan of much else. Not truly uncomfortable, but not great by any means.
I was glad to give it back.

Well Chris, now you probably know what a Maverick would drive like as well.

Actually, I never quite understood why they launched the Sport when the full-size Broncos were planned. Kinda think they could have styled and badged it as a Maverick and offered both an SUV and Pickup version.

bronco sport with sasquatch package would be in the mix if I was looking for a compact suv.

I can live with baby 👶 blue, if done properly...
This is awesome, complete with the ROADKILL rust and patina. Big BFG ATs with the white letters out. WIN!

I had a Bronco Sport as a loaner and I really did like it. Drove well had plenty of pickup for merging onto the freeway and was comfortable to get in and out of. My wife wasn't enamored with it she thought the ride was too squirrelly. Short wheel base she said she felt every little bump in the road. I thought it was fine

We had a 2025 Explorer ST Line for a few months before the Ford Motor Company bought it back. Short version, there were major electrical issues that even the factory techs couldn't figure out, so we did a repurchase under WI Lemon law statutes.

So. For 46 days we had a Bronco Sport for a loaner to drive. Not a fan. I concur with Mrs @stringbreaker in that the ride was "squirrelly." At the time we also has a 2009 Mercury Mariner. The Merc had a better ride, not as quiet and better infotainment sound. the doors were slightly wider and the windshield wasn't raked back so far.

I think the BS is trying to be too many things. the suspension is set up for desert blasting but the steering is too quick for the road, IMO; more suited for darting thru rocky terrain. Firm seats, narrow interior, but nice design. When it came time to go get our check for the Explorer, we were glad to hand it back.

When we replaced the 2G Escape, the 3 choices we decided to test-drive were a Maverick, a Bronco Sport and the Ranger. They didn't have any Mavs, so that was cut. We took one look at the trunk of the BS and decided that just wasn't going to cut it (it's about 1/3 of the space we had in the 2G Escape, although probably not that different from the 4G Escape, which is why that was never a contender). The Ranger fit our needs the best, so that's what we went with.

I've had a BS as a loaner a couple of times, and while I don't hate it, I don't really care for it either. The part I dislike the most is the "dial-a-drive" gimmick. I learned to drive on manuals, so I still usually have one hand on the stick shift when I drive. I'd have to leave a travel cup in the cup holder just to have something to rest my hand on and feel "right".

I totally agree about the dial shift. I remember when my brother-in-law was showing me his new truck (Ram I think), he treated the dial shift as something great. But then again, he also appreciated the more open space between the seats, fitted with what he did for a living. Used it as office space at times. If I didn't have the shifter to rest my hand on, I just don't know....

I also got one when my transmission was being rebuilt, i wonder if they aren’t selling well and that’s why they are being given out as loaners. I thought it was pretty nice (had the Sasquatch package) but the seating position was not like an escape at all took a while to get used to. It felt like this weird combo between a truck and a compact car. Only bad thing I noticed was the whole thing had a noticeable vibration at idle in park. I had the same issues with the dial shift, that was weird.
