Damn I lived on Wagon Wheel second house on right from Battersee. I know live on Ramsgate Terrace.

Too bad you do not still own them. Even the older smaller less renovated homes are selling north of 650k, and they sell quickly. The housing market here is insane.

"New Mexico is blessed with stunning desert landscapes, breathtaking snowcapped mountains, bubbling hot springs, and remarkable national monuments. With its mix of European American, Native American, and Mexican heritage, the state is a unique and colorful place to visit. Given all that, perhaps it is little wonder that New Mexico is known as “the Land of Enchantment.”

They went crazy not to long after we moved. Very possible we know each other if you have been there for a while. I used to have all the old cars!

I still run down to visit every month or so & can't believe how things have changed & not for the better. Like to visit but glad to get back to the mountain LOL!

Where are you moving to here in NC? I Have lived from the foothills to the coast. It is a great place to be. I take it that you have people/family here on this end?

Maybe setup a poll by region? Here's the most detailed map I could find to break the U.S. down into 10 regions.

AZ and NV are quite a ways from the West Coast, Of course, if the big one hits both NV and AZ might one day have beach front property!

Seriously, I think the map was created by OMB in the late 1960's and rescinded in 1995. I think a few fed government agencies still use the system.... EPA and HUD come to mind. Other Gov Functions such as Homeland Security has a modified version of the map.

I know the original map was also used in crisis situations where military control via martial law was envisioned. This info courtesy of spending a few years in USAF War rooms simulating war games involving CONUS.

This long diatribe to simply say I prefer the 50 state option as well. But it is what is it, and it is good enough. :)

I am from a rural part of the Pee Dee region of SC. I grew up outside of Hartsville, SC but that process continued for years as I travelled.

Putting it all in... places that I have lived (for over a year): Born a military brat in Tacoma, WA; raised in the rural Pee Dee region of SC. I grew up outside of Hartsville, SC. Graduated high school and then travelled: a brief stint at college in Charleston, SC; then Orlando, FL; Waukeegan, IL; San Miguel, Philippines; Long Beach, CA; back to San Miguel, Philippines; Adak, AK; San Diego, CA; Hartsville, SC; Lexington, SC; West Columbia, SC; Charlotte, NC; Fallston, NC; Concord, NC; Cary, NC; and now I am retiring to Ocracoke Island, NC
Those mosquitos can be vicious there! Parked my Miata top down just north (early November) and hiked the short distance across the berm to Ocracoke beach (right near the Airport). A cloud of very hungry mosquitos picked up our trial and followed us back to the car and a short ways down the road. I had visions of being back in the Everglades at dusk when I was a kid.

Congrats! It is a beautiful place!

My parents lived in Hendersonville for 25 years. Also my Grandmother lived in Chapel Hill. Anywhere between those 2 cities will work. Still plan on working a few more years albiet a less stressful position.

Serious mosquitos. Brutal.

Have heard it described as: Those mosquitos can stand flat footed and f*** a turkey.

Born in California, I came to Delaware in 1992. So, even though Delaware is the "First State," it is my second state. We love it here, but we do not see a whole lot of Rangers.
