Yep. StainLESS, not stainPROOF. It's a common misconception that stainless doesn't rust. It is more resistant, but all steel will eventually rust.
on the subject, I’d be curious to see how a stainless steel frame would hold up, maybe Im wrong, but i thought it was pretty brittle. I

It all depends on what type of stainless steel. Plus the cost of SS is about 3 - 4 times that of carbon steel. I did an estimate on a skid using 8" C-channel. The cost for CS was about $50per foot, where the 316 SS channel was $200 per foot.

I'll take it a step further. I want stainless steel! Would be nice to have on a long term vehicle here in salty Wisconsin. The strength, the corrosion resistance. So... what's the adder for that? ?

Good to know. I thought stainless just was its own grade, didn’t realize it was like the other types in that regard.
