I've seen baseboard flat nosed bug killers and pointed corner killers, but I don't have an
answer for those boots!

On 2nd thought, I think a guy could water ski on those bad boys!

I thought it was part of the Ford CritterTrail system.

If you reach up just a little bit there is a bracket that the duct is mounted to. You can ever so slightly bend that bracket and resolved the issue. I was having the same problem as well...

I'm going to have to check that out. I don't hit it often anymore as I'm gotten used to trying to miss it. But it is a bit of a PIA.

You definitely wouldn't wanna wear those boots in the woods, your liable to step next to a rattler and blow your foot off and still get snake bit

They look like the shoes on the wicked witch of the east when the house fell on her in the Wizard Of Oz.

I hit it when I first got the truck all the time when I wore boots as I was used to the way the pedals were oriented in my focus. Took a few months until I got used to the new seating and pedal position. As people said someone on here made a thread about cutting it. I’d imagine it’s just thin plastic so for the cleanest cut maybe a dremel with a cutoff wheel.

See the black piece of plastic in the top right of the pic with 2 holes facing down. My shoe constantly hits it & it's really annoying. Wondering what it is & if I can remove it with no issues to any other components down there.

If it's related to the AC/ heat & blowing air down there, I never use the foot air, only face level & defroster. I'd love to remove it if it's safe to do for anything else in the truck.

I drive the same way. Never found much heat from the floor vents. The dash vents are far more effective, just the reverse of the 4G rangers

I contacted the NTSB because my foot is always hitting that plastic and even getting stuck on the plastic on the right side of the floor when moving it from gas to brake. It’s a bad design that could cause an accident. I only have a size 9.5 shoe

It's worth a try, but I highly doubt it will go anywhere and even if it did, the resolution would be to shorten the duct, I have found that seat position angle changes the angle (height) your foot hits the brake pedal as well - sometimes lowering placement of where you naturally hit the pedal.

The simplest fix is to trim it down as this maintains (airflow) for the Temp Humidity Sensor - at the inlet vent by your right knee and it keeps the (Air Discharge) sensor intact

This is a 2-piece duct that comes from the HVAC box assembly (this section) of the duct also includes the driver's footwell discharge temp sensor (not shown) - so this section cannot simply be removed due to that sensor, and the only solution is to trim it down - like this owner did and in the end if this generated any kind of recall - this would be the solution anyway only a professional designed (molded) look.

This design is in addition to the (poorly designed) placement of the gas pedal and brake pedal proximity to each other as well as the factory issue of air in the brake system that allows for owners to be pressing the brake pedal and gas pedal at the same time.
Combination of 2 designs of which a proper brake system bleed resolves the brake pedal height issue - so you can be holding the brake, and you are above the gas pedal.

The mushy brake pedal issue is well documented on here and there are a few that have the issues with the duct (toes hitting it)

It allows those sweet heel toe downshifts.

Really just amplifies the fact our truck was designed in another country and typically had a 3rd pedal. Instead of designing something new they just deleted the clutch and made the brake pedal larger.
