What is this black piece of plastic above my brake pedal?

See the black piece of plastic in the top right of the pic with 2 holes facing down. My shoe constantly hits it & it's really annoying. Wondering what it is & if I can remove it with no issues to any other components down there.

If it's related to the AC/ heat & blowing air down there, I never use the foot air, only face level & defroster. I'd love to remove it if it's safe to do for anything else in the truck.

Yes - Drivers Footwell duct, some owners have trimmed it down.
If you ever use -Auto Mode in the winter, will see the most use as heat (primary) is at the foot level.

The blow hot air directly onto your foot and make it uncomfortable in winter duct.
Makes it the SWEATY FEET duct, I work outdoors and dress accordingly in the winter, Long-Johns and thick socks, nothing like starting work and having damp feet in the winter months.

I wear size 12's and hit that every once in a while. I might cut it back at some point.
