What UCA are you running?
I'm using the UCA that came with the lift from Superlift Suspension. I had it for over a year now, just happen to investigate some noise on my front end when I apply brake and saw that UCA was resting on the flange.

Here is mine with just that corner in the air.

At full, full droop the tubes would clear the flange.

this kit is way too cheap both price and quality. Sorry op.

A good UCA alone runs for $800-1500.
3.5” lift is going to bind CV joints. Did you drop differential? And ya, for something like this the price says not something I would want to do

Looks like I'll be changing the UCA soon. Thanks for the info. I needed the 3.5 inch lift to clear 295 70R17 tires.

No offense but it's a super basic spacer lift.

3.5" is extreme for a topper spacer. They have to supply that UCA just so the truck will align.

Look into a coilover lift instead.

Hi Bladimir,

You are getting a lot of info here to help you assess where you are and where you need to go... I stopped commenting on Lifts long ago as I got flamed by folks that stood by the aftermarket firms that offer their "Kits" for sale.... I guess you can see that Ford Engineers take a long time and use tons of resources to design it and get it right. Designing an vehicle and its systems like front suspension, testing and testing and then delivering to the customer is a very involved process...

To have an aftermarket firm take one vehicle....fabricate some pieces...fit them and then sale the kit with minimal testing if any other that the street next to the shop where the parts are made can and is in the arena of Buyer Beware!

Best,
Phil

I'm using Fox 2.0 coilover with the superlift. The installer had to do some adjustments, and had to preset the Fox 2 inch or 2.25. Eibach came out with coilover months after I had this done. I'm considering Eibach now and Icon UCA.

Hi Phil,
I appreciate your help and comments, it's always helpful. Yes, definitely Ford design their stuff well. It take lots of experience and practice and Ford is been around for a long time. I love how the Ranger ride and looks. Definitely got a lot of help here. When I got the Ranger back in early 2020 not a lot of shops will dare to lift the Ranger, here in SoCal only the few like APG, but too much at that time. I guess it's my nature, I always wanted to try new stuff and push some limits. I have been to a lot of places here in the desert and mountains of SoCal. I know what to do next is find the best UCA and possibly go with Eibach coilover, I already have them in the rear. Thanks for help. You are most appreciated.
I got couple of friends and co workers that went for the Ford Ranger as well and they all loving it.

Happens to mine too but it's a good thing for me because it's pretty much at the limit of my travel. It stops me at 11 inches of travel. But I noticed at full droop with the UCA sitting on that flange, my tie rods are about maxed out as well as the upper uniball to the knuckle. And also, at full compression my UCA slightly hits the engine bay sheet metal (fender liners are removed). The only reason I would cut the flange would be to cut the whole coil bucket off and put taller ones with a shorty hydro bump stop attached with an engine brace connecting both sides. In other words, I would leave it alone. Haha cheers.

I like your setup, the Baja kits are nice. They are just up the road from me but if I go your route, I had to change the side fenders to APG or Advance Fiber Glass like what you got. I'm saving to go that route in the future, I just won't tell my wife about it, she has been watching my expenses.

What is the purpose of this? ( see pics circle in RED). It's just below the housing of the front shocks. I noticed that my Upper Arm Controller would rest on that stuff. I was inspecting some rubbing noise when I step on the brake and noticed after I jack the front end one at a time on each side that the Upper Arm Controller would rest on the metal. I assume having same issue when off roading. Is this the stopper for over extending the shocks?

I see two noteworthy things here.

1) The spindle (steering arm?) is very close to the shock spring in the third photo. See the bottom right corner. Appears to be almost touching. The metal piece is probably a splash shiels, as people have noted, but the small flange appears to be positioned perfectly to catch the control arm as the spindle is about to make contact. That's probably not a coincidence, so I'd guess it's also a hard stop for the suspension, as you speculated.

2) In the first photo, the very first coil (top) of the spring shows rubbing marks where it's rubbing on the spring seat / cap when the spring is compressed. This could be the source of some noise, but I'm not sure if it would even make enough noise to be heard. It seems like a pretty light rub. Might rub some wax on there, or a tiny film of grease, but grease will catch and hold dust, so that might not be a great idea, as it could make it worse. Wax repels dirt, but it probably won't be enough to lubricate anything to speak of.

That's my two cents worth. Refunds available at the front desk if not satisfied.

My guess is the top picture's got to be aero, manufacturers are doing everything to squeeze more MPG.
