Ok you two... @lariat and @Ninong, Thanks for the rabbit hole journey. Where are you able to get this Mevotech stuff that looks incredibly durable.

Install time? A drink? two?

THanks!
Got mine at Rock Auto. My truck is going into the local 4x4 shop next month. I will have them install them while the wheels are off.

Not today, but yesterday. Got my two EGR sensors I ordered from Rock Auto. Haven't experienced any major shuddering slow around town, but have some when backing out of the driveway at idle. More being ready than a necessary. Need to pick up some 3/4 inch hose clamps now.
Mine came in yesterday as well.

The question becomes if you have a lift, dont you need shorter links?
No. The mount on the knuckle is higher from the sway bar when you lift. I couldn’t get mine lined back up and just left it out completely. I’ve yet to die in a fiery crash.

There's certainly more to it then aesthetics, but I wanted to keep my grey/black look consistent for good measure. :)
Never heard of paint? ?

Yeah about that...

I just went after mine, not looking difficult, but you need some less common tools, at least on the Tremor

The upper link bolt is recessed into the knuckle.

I didn't even have an 18mm open end handy... even if I did, not sure it's the best plan. I'm going to do this next week after I buy an offset box end wrench so I can drop that on it, hold the stud with an Allen, and pop it loose.

In reverse I'm going to use a crows foot to torque it to spec. The lower link is exposed and easier to deal with. One of my zerk fittings was no good so it needs replacement as well, those are landing via Amazon tomorrow.

What a weekend ?

A pass-through socket set also comes in handy for this - even a cheap set from Harbor Freight.

Ironically I have a set that came with my Milwaukee electric ratchet, love that thing, but the pass throughs only go to 15mm ?
I hear the DeWalt set goes up to 21mm.

My set goes to 21. I have both SAE and Metric. I don't trust the ratchet for high torque work. I've already had one fail that was replaced free of charge.

I wasn't going to post this, but there's so much peer pressure to buy, Buy, BUY! on this forum. =D

I got 4 Strapinno 1" retractable ratchet straps in June of '22. They get used regularly, maybe 20-30 times since then, and one finally froze up. It won't ratchet anymore. I haven't opened it up, maybe some Blue Creeper oil will fix it. They have been decent but, as in many new imported things, they just aren't built for longevity. =(

I'm casually looking at true 2" marine stainless steel ratchets (non-retractable). The retractables are great for many uses, but for higher loads, like branches, you have to toss over the end of the strap which has an s-hook. It is rubber coated but since acorns make dents, I'm sure that would too. A regular ratchet strap would have just a webbing end for a more merciful toss over.

In the meanwhile, and now that I have the little receiver crane thing, I thought getting some higher working load straps might be a good idea.

The 1" straps have a 500# working load, the new 2" retractables have an 800# working load (and 1,500 vs. 2,400 breaking strength). These new ones supposedly have a lifetime warranty, but I won't hold my breath (I do keep these in a SwingCase under a tonneau, so they're mostly out of the weather).

And they came with a pair of 2" soft loops - I do like me some soft loops and have a pair of US-made 1" ones on each tie down. These 2" ones are short but could be handy for use hoisting up stuff with that crane.

I sold out and got it from Amazon, I should have ordered it direct from them.
PowerTye 2 inch x 10 Foot Retractable Heavy-Duty Ratchet Tie-Downs $59.95

comes with a bag that I won't use (maybe for something else)

feel nice and sturdy plus stubby soft loops

the loops are US made but I can't find that on the ratchets. The site is all "US made" but the wording is careful on the ratchets and I suspect they're made overseas

I paid $100 to have them installed in less than 20 min so I wouldn't be in your predicament. :)
