Drove up to McCall, haven't been staying since no heat or hot water as underground propane tank had a leak. Of course snowing along the way.

Tank gets dug up and replaced tomorrow.. Brrr it's 55 inside!

Looks like a 1,000 gal tank which is really nice. You usually get a better price to fill it and it'll last a lot longer in case of a storm or outage.

Yes, 1000 gallons. We top it off just before winter in case we can't get to it with our big snowfalls.

The old one was probably too close to the property line, below grade and when they pulled it up the hole filled with water due to high table and recent snow melt. They moved the tank closer to house, about 11 feet with ten the minimum here, and raised it up a bit as the old tank cover would fill with water which is most likely why it developed a leak.

While cleaning up the garage after customizing the last of the closets at our “new” place. There’s been quite a bit of activity surrounding the closets - drywall, plywood, baseboard molding, door casings, etc. and a lot of it gets leaned up against things and moved around often. I was kneeling on the garage floor moving some flooring material when I saw my hi-lift jack starting to fall over out of the corner of my eye. It seemed odd because it’s usually just leaning against the side of my tool chest.

When it comes to my tool chest, every once in a while I notice a drawer sitting a bit proud of the cabinet and tell myself I really should level it properly so that doesn’t continue to happen.

While down on the floor, I reached to grab my hi-lift and that’s when I heard the unmistakable sound of a drawer full of wrenches sliding open, followed by another, then another.

Oh crap! The drawers of the upper tool chest were opening and it was starting to fall over, toward my truck. I was down low between the tool chest and my Ranger and quickly reached up to stop the drawers when a lower drawer slid open, catching me right in the face. Oh man, it hurt. The air was suddenly bluer than that tool chest. It was on a crazy angle and all I could think of was somehow stopping the whole thing from falling against my truck. The bottom chest was tipping, drawers were sliding out, gravity was not on my side and I was trying desperately to stand up while trying to right the cabinets. It was a gong show. I was pushing on drawers, fighting for every inch to stand. I couldn’t believe just how heavy it was.

I was sideways to the truck when it all started but managed to have my back against the truck door when I made it to where I was standing. I was stuck - now what?

I tried to clear the top section of the chest so I could push the drawers in and close the lid to lock them in place. No luck. I managed to reach my hi-lift and get it between me and the drawers of the lower cabinet. That gave me some leverage but I still couldn’t get it off me and back against the wall.

So, there I was, pinned. A bit beaten up but not in any danger and I wasn’t bleeding. At least I could catch my breath and figure out a plan. My phone was on the work bench, which didn’t help but I figured I could call out for Mrs. DukeCanBuildit and she might be able to open the garage door and back the Ranger out of the garage - better fold in that passenger side mirror first. I called several times but she couldn’t hear me. Dang.

Then I remembered that Amazon was delivering a package today and for some reason, that order had defaulted to “key delivery”, where they use myQ to open the garage door and put the package inside. I figured I could just wait for the driver to show up. My keys were in the garage and they could back it out. So I waited, tried a couple more times to right the cabinets - not budging. Less than ten minutes later, my garage door started to open - they had arrived. The guy found the keys, slowly backed the truck out. When the front fender cleared, there would be no more truck to lean on and I knew I would be taking the full weight of the tool chests.

As the bumper approached, I put all the strength I had left into pushing it toward the wall and the front of the garage while jumping clear of it at the same time. It all crashed to the floor, making less of a mess than I expected. Mrs. DukeCanBuildit didn’t even hear it.

Anyway, the Ranger survived, I got bruised up and I learned a valuable lesson about doing a better job of securing my tool chests.

Sorry I'm late don't know how I missed this. Glad everything turned out OK. Getting older I find myself doing things a bit slower trying to be careful. I have to ask did you find my 10mm?

I was getting a little tired of my chrome package, so I decided to try to change things up without spending too much money. I found some great rim covers from nationalhubcaps on EBay. They snapped right on, and there is a screw that goes in the middle of your rim to secure it into place. I also used some plastidip on my front grill, my door handles, and on my tow hooks (I don’t use the tow hooks). Completely changed the appearance of the truck. Great economic way to spruce up the look of the truck a little.

Another oil change. modified the oil fill funnel I have for the RS so I could use it on the Ranger as well. Wouldn't fit due to the keyed cap design of the Ranger. Just took a couple minutes with an oscillating tool and a file.

Sedona fire department had its annual wildfire preparedness days, which lets you drop off your yard waste for free. The only thing better than dump run is a free dump run!

Drove it back home from our week trip up in Sedona. I have to say even after owning 2 Rangers for the past 7 years the Ranger still impresses me both on and off road. The gas mileage was great considering all the elevation changes and also off roading for 2 hours at around 5 mph I averaged 22.9 MPG over 776 total miles.

Sedona fire department had its annual wildfire preparedness days, which lets you drop off your yard waste for free. The only thing better than dump run is a free dump run!

Our county has free residential land fill /transfer station dumping. They go by having plates for our county. I'm sure our property taxes cover the cost.

Drove it back home from our week trip up in Sedona. I have to say even after owning 2 Rangers for the past 7 years the Ranger still impresses me both on and off road. The gas mileage was great considering all the elevation changes and also off roading for 2 hours at around 5 mph I averaged 22.9 MPG over 776 total miles.

Yeah, It's a FFR!

My last fill up showed 25 mpg. These Rangers are amazing!

Prescott has a free pick up. I just have to have everything out to the curb for May 7. Don't even have to get my bed dirty.

Ranger brought us back from another great beach trip. Due to my continuing recovery from back surgery, I rode in the back seat. That is a first for me. A little bumpier and noisier than the drivers seat, but it was still a great trip, Thanks to my daughters fiance for doing all the driving. We did some shark fishing one evening. Thanks to Chum em up fishing charters for another entertaining evening of fishing. We caught one shark, about four feet, and a lot of catfish. There is something therapeutic, for the spirit and body at the beach. Being with good friends and family makes it all that much better.

Drove to the nearest GSMNP trailhead and parked the Ranger. Hiked up a couple miles then got in the water to chase some native Southern Appalachian Brook Trout. Great way to spend Sunday afternoon!
