What did you do WITH your Ranger today?

There was a McDonald’s adjacent to my High School in 1975. My favorite lunch there was a fillet-o-fish, fries and a vanilla shake. I could just order the regular. ?

When I was a kid, I worked at McDonald’s, we used to get Idaho potatoes by the sack approximately 100 pounds, then we put them in a barrel that spun around and took the skin off the potatoes, not completely, we then took them to the potato cutter and cut them into 6” pieces and put them in a stainless steel sink with cold water and soaked them. Drained the water And soaked them until the water ran clear. Then we put them into a basket in oil and blanched them at 120° for 20 minutes. Then put the baskets in a rack and let them drain.. when an order was ready we put them in 350° oil until the fries were done. Then served.. hamburgers were put on a flat griddle with chopped onions underneath cooked with a toasted bun that was also toasted on the griddle. The fish sandwich was dropped in the fryer and put on a toasted bun with a slice of American cheese and back then it was the best fish sandwich I ever had and the burgers got a small quirt of ketchup and mustard with a pickle on top also a burger to die for. You could get the fries and a Coke for $.15 that’s back when they really had quality. I really miss that. The fries had a little bit of skin on them, which gave them a unique taste. I wish they had that now and that’s the story and I’m sticking to it.8

Honestly the old ways are best when it comes to fast food imo.. it’s still quick and much better than the possibly human ground meat they serve these days..

In the early 90s I had a Deli in Hallandale Fla, I used Boars Head meat and farm to table produce..my sub rolls came from the bakery next store ..

Unfortunately you only get a half slice of cheese on the fish sandwich now AND pay more for it ?

1/2 slice of cheese is still a full slice.....it's just half as big !!!!! Makes the piece of fish look bigger !!!

Take 6 oz of water and put it in a 6 oz glass....you have a full glass.
Take the same 6 oz and put it in a 12 oz glass you have a half full glass.
Still a full glass if you put it back in the 6 oz glass....
All depends on perspective......

While everyone is trying to catch fish filets in boxes.. my B.I.L. Decided to get Moms tractor stuck in a bush..on a hill…a steep hill…
he was gonna leave it there till.. well I don’t know how long he was gonna leave it there…
anyway.. turned it into a day trip for the family.. Wifey and the kids got to hang out in the hot tub while I rescued the tractor and did chores ?.. and then BBQ’d… finished the day off with three fingers of Four Roses Small batch.

Just finished a 4-day trip from Tucson to the San Juan River in New Mexico for some trout fishing. Only got one the first day, but on day two, it picked up and I stopped counting after 15. Very big fish in this river, the smallest was 17 inches.

First stop was at the Cat Walk Recreation Area near Glenwood, NM. Very interesting place for a short hike. Second stop was La Ventana Arch. Then on to the river. Saw a river otter, an osprey, a bald eagle, and a raccoon raiding trash cans in the daytime. That seemed very unusual. On the return trip, I drove just south of Ship Rock. I seen it a million times from the air, but this was the first time on the ground. That’s one big chunk of isolated rock!

Took it to the edge of my fuel range according to the computer. Drove my 2022 Ranger 0 miles to empty and added 19 gallons. I still had plenty of gas left in my 2024.. ?

Last week I drove out across the Arizona Strip to Tuweap campground and Toroweap Overelook. Most of the drive is relatively nice gravel roads, but the last miles or so gets a bit technical. I was glad for my suspension mods and big chunky tires.

The next day we headed over to Mount Trumbull and hiked up to the top.

Then drove up to the Mount Logan Trailhead and camped.

The next morning we hiked up to the top of Mount Logan.

Then drove down to the Whitmore Trailhead. The road is long, and the last couple of miles are pretty rough, but it’s worth it.

I’ve done a lot of hiking and rafting in the Grand Canyon. Whitmore is the only place I’ve ever driven to that really feels like you’re in the canyon rather than looking down on it.

Ranger provided supervision while I replaced the pump assembly in my Coleman Lantern. Prepping for the next road trip. Leave on a 2000 mile two week fly fishing/camping trip to Wisconsin Driftless Area and central Michigan next Wednesday. Last trip before June partial knee replacement.
