@ChrisM too

She just got her "marker" number and it's an 8, anything below 42 is great and the lowest is 7. So all is very well, thanks! =)

meanwhile ...

Part Two of Soupie's Big Outing to Beantown!

All of Kate's results are awesome and she only has one more yearly visit and she's done! Full remission, we were so fortunate that an immunotherapy was approved for her cancer just 8 days before she went for this last ditch effort. Surgery, 3 types of chemo, and radiation didn't slow it down, and her oncologist gave her 3 years to live. That was in 2018 ...

concrete pylon certainly appears closer! =p

Yesterday was quite a day - me and a buddy went surf fishing at Pismo on the morning, caught a ton of surf perch but all pretty small. Then went up 101 through Santa Margarita to the lake up there, scouted some fishing spots, and came back on High Mountain Road, a fun little off road adventure. Came back to town, met my wife for a beer, and on her way home, in the left hand turn lane, on a busy road, her X5 quit and refused to start- we couldn’t even get it in park- the tow truck had to drag it on the bed. Wonderful way to end the day!

Pozo saloon - it’s been closed for a few years now, had lots of concerts - Willie Nelson, Dwight Yocum among them.

View from High Mountain Lookout in San Luis Obispo county backcountry- that’s Lake Lopez, and way past that, the Pacific.

Other side of the ridge-to California Valley.
High mountain Road is open from May until the first rains, you can go a long ways if you take the High Mountain Lookout road off the main trail. It’s a fun afternoon excursion if you live in Central California.

Drove 50 miles down to Farmington, AR which is about an hour away. I wanted to checkout their selection of wood stoves so I can make a final decision on which type (zero clearance fireplace or free standing) to go with. Most likely going with a zero clearance for the smaller footprint (it's flush in the box where a free standing sticks out into the room) and still gives off a ton of heat. It's a Pacific Energy FP25 and heats up to a 2,000 sq ft house, has dual 80 cfm blowers and a heat distribution system. This allows you to connect up to two ducts which can run to two separate rooms in the house through a separate fan/motor.

Here's the floor model they just got in. Pretty heavy at 610 lbs

Internet picture of a FP30 (next size up) installed. I'm doing a raised hearth returned back to the wall on both sides.

The freestanding one would have to be similar to this. I like it but it takes up a lot more floor space.

Drank a lot of cloudy 'olive' beer there, going to and coming from Corizzo Plain and the Army base at Fort Hunter Liggett. The trails in the mountains West of the base are something to behold!

I drove it for the first time in 2 weeks.

The weather has been great for the last 2 weeks so I have exclusively driven the Jeep.

Half-doors and top off is always a fun ride.

Chance of a bit of rain today so the Ranger got duty to meet friends at the steakhouse.

I would go with a heat-storing soapstone fireplace in something around the 4000-6000lbs range. Does not heat up the sides too much but keeps the place warm for 48 to 72hrs.

Something simple like this: https://tulikivi.com/us_en/fireplace/classic/ttu2700/

I think you can get them ceramic tiled if you dislike the color and the cleaning effort (brake cleaner works wonders).

Thanks, Those look nice but probably way overkill for our area and heavy. It does get cold here but nothing to extreme for any length of time, so I'm told. One main reason I'm going wood is that there's no NG here only LP which tends to be very expensive and you go through a tank fairly quickly. Otherwise I'd do a nice NG fireplace and be done with it. Plus there's nothing like a nice wood fire going when it's cold outside and coming from AZ that's going to be anything under 70.?

Father in laws dodge finally blew up on his way to some shift cart racing… found that out from a distressed brother in laws frantic phone call to my poor wife whom (unfortunately for her) heard her brother say “dads truck exploded so he’s on the side of the road just outside Livermore….:::heavy sigh::: (dim wit dum dum her little bother).. now we all hear that and it’s just oh trucks dead not that big of a deal… wifey didn’t hear this the same way as we would ?… so my plans of heading down to Hollister to help mom is getting pushed back a bit.. along the way PeePaw gets ahold of us to inform that usaa is coming through with a tow truck that’ll take care of everything, not believing in the “everything will be fine now” (just a gut feeling the TT was gonna try and leave the trailer and just take the truck.).. I let wifey know. We are still gonna go check on him.. we swing by I take notice that his trailer needs a 2” ball (this random info comes into play later.).. my son who is along for the ride is getting hungry, so we take PeePaws order and off we go to EsStarbucks… while getting coffee for the dults and a snack for the young one.. Mrs OGMix’s phone rings and on the line is a very frustrated father in law of mine….”TOW GUY WANTS ME TO LEAVE MY F’n RACE TRAILER!!! Says he can’t take both!?!? Makes no sense..”. After speaking with the young guy on the phone about how to do his job it became clear he’s new to the flatbed tow truck business.. anyway asked my Fil to just get the address of where he’s taking the dodge Dakota… :::phone must’ve glitched and didn’t post some of the text I wrote:::… and we can pick you up after we get your trailer we are on our way… he says thank you so much… we get to the trailer and this crazy old guy is waiting there with his trailer and his truck is gone ?.. anyway he’s home safe with his precious trailer and his truck is now home too.

Parked on opposite sides of the handicap spaces from one of those new fangled self driving wants to be a truck things ...

It would look good in the next Blade Runner movie, not seeing the practicality or attractiveness compared to the Yeti. The Ranger just had it beat in looks, function, and capability. I guess maybe not on 'runs cleaner' points or something.

Live in AZ for 10 years with 110+ temps and you'll see how cold it is once the temps drop below 70. ?

When we lived in South Fla, Dade County, during winter there were maybe 3-4 days where it got below 50 degrees and everyone wore their heavy winter jackets.....funny as hell.
