I did the same. According to the manual, it is only rated for the factory spare. I put a cheap tire cover over mine to protect it from small rocks and other debris and used a ratchet strap to help with the extra weight.

I didn't realize that but I never read the owners manual. I put a full size (larger) spare on my '19 Ranger when I went up in size with the tires.

🤔 It was totaled shortly afterward.

Too bad about the Ranger, at least you are OK. Frankly, I found it by accident. Faster to check the manual than search the whole truck to find the jack and tools. I got a lead wheel weight in a tire and shoved 3 plugs in it and filled it to 50 pounds to get me the 5 miles home. Just made it. Refilled after a closer look and drove the mile to Discount Tire for a new set, a month or so earlier than I planned. Of course, now I keep a 1/2" drive ratchet and a real jack after looking at what Ford provides. :)

That explains why my 275/70R17 General Grabber killed my spare tire carrier….

I hope this doesn’t happen to Jeff @jflogerzi

I wonder if the Tremor has a different carrier due to the full-size spare. 🤔

My 2019 came with a full-size tire, same as the other four. I had a steel wheel with a warning label.
I replaced it with a matching wheel and same tire. I don't think there can be much difference in weight. Been on for 6 years. never used spare yet. I think it's a liability clause and maybe deter larger non-OEM tire/wheel.

See the post a few up from this. The weight difference between my spare wheel and the the matching wheel is very noticeable, I would say at least 10 lbs. and I went to a bigger tire. I wasn't taking any chances on MY liability for disregarding it. It may not be necessary for anything but peace of mind.

I understand. I had the same Hankook dynapro tire as the other four. The steel wheel was fairly heavy. the new matching wheel wasn’t too much heavier. Did your spare have a dynapro hankook tire with a steel wheel like the base XL models do?

My XLT FX4 has the full size Dynapro tire on steel wheel with 50 mph max label on it. I would like to get another wheel just so I'm not limited to 50 mph and I wonder if the payload is affected by the spare wheel like in towing? I also don't want to ruin the spare winch system with too heavy a wheel either.

Yes, I had the steel wheel with Hankook the 50 MPH sticker on it. Sold it on Craigslist for $100 or so.

For several reasons; too expensive, not well built, and on back order. :(

I got my matching wheel on Ebay from a Ford dealer take off for $145. The wheel never left the dealer until it went in a box to my address. I have a 265/70R17 Continental Terrain Contact A/T mounted on it and it goes up and down every 5000 miles for a 5 tire rotation. No issues but I do use a ratchet strap to carry the weight. As for towing, even if the weight difference was 25 pounds, would it really matter?

I'm not sure, but the spare is marked for a couple reasons.
1... Not balanced.
2... No TPMS.
3.. The wheel part number can be KB3Z-1015-D, or-C or -EA.. Don't know the difference between part numbers looks the same. Maybe diameter.
4.. Looks to be a pressed in and spot welded in several places.

I had matching wheel mounted, balanced and TPMS installed.

I think that when I bought the truck and asked about a matching spare I was quoted a fairly high price and declined, No mention of any problems?
