Wired up the third brake light and dome light in new topper. Added rubber sealer between topper and bed caps. Helped a buddy take doors off his Rubicon and put the bikini top on. He was excited by the no rain for a week forecast ???. Now we’ll probably get monsoons every day …

Installed the ARB skid plates to meet up with my ARB bumper. Also installed the ARB tow hook. I am a little annoyed because I didn't realize the tow hooks were sold as singles. They are wicked nice, but are also $220 each. That's a lot. I need to decide if I am going to buy another ARB tow hook or buy a OE from a buddy. If I have to buy a new one, its not much different than the ARB for cost, so... I am sure I will go that way.
I didn't realize they installed in the stock location. For some reason, I thought the went further back in the frame as a single point - I'm probably getting confused with another product.

Dang it, this is what I should have ordered instead of the cruddy Rough Country ones ... bah!

But yeah, that's a hell of a price but I expect it's several times stronger than the crappy alternative! You're paying for piece of mind.

they sure feel beefy.

they are simple - if only I had a welder, plasma cutter, grinders and a way to powder coat it when done I could get the whole set of skids and tow hooks done for half what ARB charges. LOL

Ohh and don't forget a brakepress. . .

Also, you bought rough country?!?!?! ewwwwww LOL I don't expect much else from someone with a tailgate damper ?

Yeah, the RC ones are dumpy. One was okay, but the shackle pin wouldn't go through the other because the welder was hungover that day and didn't use a jig to line up the holes. Also just poor finish with a glob of a bead on the front.

Plus ... zero customer service follow up from them. That taught me!

Installed a GMRS radio holder using assorted RAM and Amazon parts mounted to the JCR center console molle panel I installed a while ago. Pretty happy with this setup for group trail rides, etc.

No external antenna with the radio mounted that low in the cab?

Finally got around to installing my OME medium duty kit and blue sumo springs. Truck should do much better towing my heavy hitch weight travel trailer. Now to get bigger tires and new wheels…

On route to my off-road run a few days back, I had a rock hit my driver's door, kicked out from a road-side cutting tractor. I knew when it happened it was going to leave a substantial chip/dent due to how loud the impact was. I didn't stop at the time, because having previous experience with this, I knew they would just say call the city and put a claim in. Also, I had my dash cam running which I assumed would have captured it and my verbal reaction when it impacted. I took a video of the damage when I reached the meet up, but for unknown reasons the dash cam wasn't recording at that time (which I was also going to use to get information exactly where it happened, as I was on an unfamiliar road). The first photo showing the dent is a still from the video I took afterward. Today, I brushed on some Tremclad anti-rust paint to protect it. I'm still eventuially going to Raptor coat the fenders/doors/quarters so as pissed as I ws when it happened, at least it's a spot that I've already decided to paint, and I'm taking the door panel off for another project in the next few days, so I'll dolly the dent out. It could have been a much worse situation.

I installed the last fender flare, then removed it and re-installed the snorkel. Then I spent so many hours slowly grinding away on the flare to fit around the snorkel, but still needs a piece of body trim to finish it. Then removed it one last time to clean everything up and install the marker light for final installation. As I start putting the marker light in, the whole piece popped right out, and is fkd now. The rest of the flare is injection or thermo-molded, but the light cup is a separate piece that is glued in. I was pi$$ed, lol.

In normal circumstances I'd have stopped the install and re-packaged the whole flare, but seeing as I already cut it to fit, I doubt they'll want it back, so I just finished the install, without the fender light in place.

I'll be contacting them in the morning and looking for a solution, either a replacement flare or suitable adhesive that will hold it securely for the long run.

Update : I never heard back from Air Designs regarding their shitty workmanship on the bonding of the flare and light mounting piece. I wasn't really expecting them to send me a new flare, but would have appreciated their insight into the best product to complete a repair. Most plastics can be welded or repaired with a variety of adhesives, but each composition has it's own characteristics and which works best is subjective to the material. ABS is one of the least friendly to glue or adhesives, and given the thin nature of the flare, I didn't want to risk welding it. I also didn't know for certain both pieces were ABS.

Although I was hoping for some information from AD, I was also in somewhat of a time crunch, as I wanted it re-installed for my off-road trip a few days after, so I did my won research and picked up some JB Weld Plastic Weld, which one of very few epoxies specifically list for ABS. I dremeled a small channel into the light socket to give it a little ridge, and hopefully enhance the grip of the epoxy, and some contours into the flare side as well. Fortunately, it is a 5 minute set and and 60 minute cure variety of epoxy. Also fortunately, I could do all the work on the inner surface where it wouldn't be seen, so I could use far more than I probably needed. I set it up, then clamped them for 2 hours, and it worked very well. I installed a new set of LED markers, loaded them up with dielectric grease, and finished the install.

As per normal, I didn't get any photos while doing the repair, or the finished product. It held up through a full day of wheeling on tight trails, that I have dozens of new pin strips from. Here it is covered in mud, but the light is still firmly in place :)
