FOD,

just remember, the loud complainers are in the minority.
theres thousands more out there enjoying their rides

sure, no truck is infallible, and most know this and get it fixed and move on.
no truck is perfect 100%, mechanically, or personally.

however, that group that likes to stand on their pulpit and be heard, will continually preach their woes until someone hugs them.
they do them.

one day, my Ranger will part with with me, and I'm not emotionally connected to it, or the forum.
This is just begging for a pithy damper post, I know it...;)

? If Ford had put a damper on our Rangers what the hell would we talk about?

 Probably about how crappy the color contrast to body color would have been, the angle of install and the $1k markup over MSRP for special factory upgrading...

Lately, it's been more like
Rangers are built like Fk
Rangers run like Fk
Rangers ride like Fk
Your Ranger is Fk'd
You are Fk'd
and I don't like the color your mom chose for you...:lipssealed:
I get a chuckle from post's from the ones who had a previous ford bitched about the quality of it then turn around and buy a new ranger and bitch about the quality of that too.... ?‍♂ the 40K truck today is equal to about a 20K truck in years past ….. cheap transportation.

Congrats on your decision, only you live your life. The reality is you aren’t a truck person per se, you like them, but can take them or leave them. Some of us are truck folk, matter of need not want. This type of trade to truck folk is like finger nails on a chalk board.

I get what you did, saved 400 bucks a month on cash flow. The real calculation is cost of ownership. A six year old car with 63k miles is likely out of warranty. You are making payments on something with an unknown repair cost component. Hopefully, like the poster above said it will give you years of trouble free miles. Over the long haul a truck will always be worth more than a car, trucks are needed in the workforce. So once the trade or final sale is made on a truck the recouped money will make the cost of ownership more equivalent.

The main thing is YOU are happy. The trade back in years is not common, trust me I see a lot of trades, almost always it is about money saved. Wish you and your daughter the very best.
Not to boast or brag but I’m probably more of a truck person than 99% of the people here. lol my last truck was a 85 F-250 6.9 diesel. I did a 1 ton axle swap to Dana 60 in the front and Sterling 10.25 in the rear, put a flat bed on it. Swapped out the 4 speed for a ZF5. Lifted it 4” and put 37” tires on it. Plus many more things

I guess the definition of a truck person could vary person to person. One thing that drives me bonkers is when people talk about their “truck build” and it consists of wheels, tires, off road lights and a bed liner. Naw man actually put some blood sweat and tears in it and build it! Not dissing on you guys for having a Ranger but I never felt very manly or like a “truck guy” owning a brand new truck. So now I’ll buy some old piece of junk and at least make it mechanically solid and have fun with it. Runs in the family my dads wayyy more into trucks than I am with a beyond show quality 41’ Chevy pickup and 72’ GMC that he did 99.5% of the work on

Thanks for the insight, loved to learn about who you are, forums can be restrictive in showing the total person. Maybe the solution is to build your own fun truck from a junker with some of the money you save, there a lot of satisfaction in that.

Ya that’s my plan. When I sold my old truck it was because I lived in a HOA neighborhood and people complained because it leaked oil and was ugly. So I bought my Ranger and fit in ?

I started reading this thread while sitting down on the couch to look up something else. Now I'm laying on the couch and I'll never get those 10 minutes back. ??

Here’s my dads rigs if anyone cares. 72’ GMC and 41 Chevy, ridiculous amount of time in these trucks.

Give your pops a pat on the back. Some serious detail work there and it really shows. My wife would point at them and exclaim, those are the dream vacations I never had! ?

I knew this was going to happen soon but couldn’t pass up this killer used truck market. Commuting 70 miles a day the Ranger was good but 23mpg could be better. So I added to our Mazda family and traded in on a 2015 Mazda 3. Paid $30,000 2 years and 31,300 miles ago for the Ranger and got $27,000 on trade. Not to mention I put a few dents in her.. was a great truck.

I’ll likely end up buying a old beater for fire wood and such. Til then the construction company I work at is super cool with people borrowing trucks and equipment so no worries there. I’ve enjoyed this forum. Have a good one y’all!
