Back in 2008 I traded in my 2 year old Trailblazer SS in for a Hyundai Sonata for this exact same reason. My SS was tuned and required premium at $4.30/gal at the time, and it got 12 MPG's. I was spending over $500 a month on gas just going to and from work. You gotta do what you gotta do!

I still miss my TBSS, though.

What’s wrong with that? Some of you guys are dipsticks lol I traded in a 2 year old truck and almost got all my money back and now have a good car with fairly low miles, cheaper gas, cheaper insurance, cheaper registration, cheaper payment, fits car seats better, more fun to drive. I dont “need” a truck. I’m glad you know me well enough to assume my trade in was a poor decision
Don't need to know anything about you. Going backwards 4 years is an odd trade.

Does not compute. Why get the Ranger in the first place if saving money was your goal? Sounds like your goals changed. That happens sometimes.

I bought mine for the sheer fun factor and utility of it. I knew going into it that a truck was more costly in every aspect than a car. I bought mine for a purpose and it serves that purpose well.
I understand wanting to save money but if that was the motivator then why not get a bike? My motorbike cost less in every aspect over a Mazda 3.

Adios MF!

Tyler, You are the only one that has to be happy, and your beautiful daughter, with your choice of vehicles. Stop by here any time and best of luck.
.
And this is why I stay on this forum. A great bunch of people here.

Tyler, I'm glad you made out like a bandit - and your daughter is pretty cute - make sure and savor the time with her - it goes WAY too fast.

Congrats on your decision, only you live your life. The reality is you aren’t a truck person per se, you like them, but can take them or leave them. Some of us are truck folk, matter of need not want. This type of trade to truck folk is like finger nails on a chalk board.

I get what you did, saved 400 bucks a month on cash flow. The real calculation is cost of ownership. A six year old car with 63k miles is likely out of warranty. You are making payments on something with an unknown repair cost component. Hopefully, like the poster above said it will give you years of trouble free miles. Over the long haul a truck will always be worth more than a car, trucks are needed in the workforce. So once the trade or final sale is made on a truck the recouped money will make the cost of ownership more equivalent.

The main thing is YOU are happy. The trade back in years is not common, trust me I see a lot of trades, almost always it is about money saved. Wish you and your daughter the very best.

I hear yah. Years ago, I ended up trading in my 88 Suzuki Samurai for a 02 Elantra because I needed to use it for work and 20k miles of highway driving/yr were t going to cut it in my samurai that had been perfect for beach town college living with the occasional mountain/desert romp.

I do wish I could undo that decision now, but that Elantra was a reliable, comfy dream after making my poor samurai suffer all over New England and the economics of it were great.

Car needs to fit your life, not the other way around. Besides, the next gen Rangers are probably going to be awesome. Maybe when she’s older it will be a good time to get back into the truck for some adventuring!

I've come up with a poem that seems to be fitting with the sentiment of this thread.
Roses are RED
Violets are Blue
If you sell your Ranger...F**K YOU!!!
Lately, it's been more like
Rangers are built like Fk
Rangers run like Fk
Rangers ride like Fk
Your Ranger is Fk'd
You are Fk'd
and I don't like the color your mom chose for you...:lipssealed:
