Welp, I got the Radiator installed. Labor was $500. Considerably less than what the stealership was charging. I did not want to do the work myself as I've never done a Radiator before. Time will tell if it makes a difference. I also had a new thermostat installed.
I have a trip coming up in...
So I could not find any emails that I sent or documents. It was a while ago so I don't remember the details.
The mechanic told me that I needed to write Ford Corporate a message requesting that they provide a replacement for my transmission. It seemed more of a formality than anything. I wrote...

That price is way too high. The entire transmission brand new is not $6,900. I could understand them charging high dollar for labor just because they can but what kind of ridiculous mark up is that!? It took 10 weeks for the thing to get repaired because Ford kept going back and forth with the...
See the first post on my thread. Your mileage is close to what mine was when I had it replaced.

Good Luck Sucka!
I'm just kidding. I'm glad I'm not alone but I feel for ya.
Mountune Radiator just arrived. It's considerably better built than the stock one. This thing is stout. I hope it performs better too. I have a new thermostat and about 4 gallons of coolant waiting for install
Well I bought the Mountune Radiator. Now I need to find a shop to install it. Mountune is about 45 minutes from me so hopefully shipping is quick. Total was $357 with free shipping and 10% off code.
To give additional feedback on my setup here are some contributing factors.

I did a coolant flush at around 65K. Checked the thermostat at that time too. It was overheating so I wanted to try that first. It only overheats under heavy load, towing up a grade or climbing in triple digit heat, fully loaded with camping gear. Under normal circumstances it seems to run ok...
I need a new radiator. Truck is overheating when loaded down. I tow a small tear drop trailer too. It's roughly 3500lbs wet. 2 mechanics from different shops said to replace the radiator. I'm at around 95k in miles. Been considering the options below. Also, how hard is it to do myself? Should I...
Part # VKB 3Z2C006A
Website states 30 day lead time. Is that accurate? Most parts stores can get it next day but I'd rather get it from you guys as I buy most of my parts from you anyhow. Thanks.
Close. I get 14.5 mpg city/offroad and 17 - 18 on highway. I live in Commiefornia so it really hits the wallet. Gas around me is averaging around $5.00 for 87. Some are as high as $5.50 within a mile from here. I gas up from Costco and Sam's Club every chance I get. But it beats needing a Tesla...
Update:
New transmission is good. Just came back from a 2 week trip. Drove 3,300 miles up the coast of California, Oregon, and Washington and back down on the east side of each state. I climbed....a lot! did some offroading on the beach and on the trails. Went through the desert, snow caped...
Nope! That crowd is way to Big. I roll with my local SGV Overland Bound group.
As for events I would check out Festivus, OLAF, WOR (Weekend Offroad/Socal Overland) and Pure 4X4. Lots of events will use Holcomb Valley Ranch as their staging area.
I go to Big Bear often. There are some fun trails and a ton of camping. You can find some big events up there for Overlanders too. There's a group of Rangers in SoCal that go out often if you wanted to roll with them. Maybe I'll see you out there!
