I went with the WeatherTechs. There is definitely potential to scratch the painted fender trim on the XLT/Lariats if you didn’t use the provided PPF since the contoured part of the mudflap overlaps that part of the truck. Hence why they thought it was a good idea to include the PPF.
I've got an XL.. with the STX package. The wheel well trim is black plastic.... I'm not sure how it would get scratched... and even if it did, with the mud flaps in place, how would anybody even know?

My original comment about scratching the paint was specific to my truck, which is not an XL and has painted fender flare trim. I understand that XL’s have black plastic there instead so you’re not worried about the scratches. I was talking about my specific situation before you commented. Thanks.

They also work great in the event the local road crew runs you over fresh yellow road paint.....

The good news is none of the yellow paint got on the truck painted panels.... but it did take 1-1/2 hours to remove all the dried paint from the wheel wells. :headbang:

I am however questioning the wisdom of the folks at Ford that decided to use indoor / outdoor carpet for the front wheel well liners?

So how did you remove from the carpet in the wheel wells? My vette has the same and I ran over some yellow paint. Unfortunately I do not have big mud flaps on it lol. Ceramic coating helped me get the paint off the car but it kinda looks like Big Bird exploded in my wheel wells...

I have a question about the front mud flaps. I did not get or maybe lost the installation instructions on the Weather Techs. I have asked the company for a replacement but have not heard back.
can someone please post the photos of how the two screws and fender clips are to be installed. Thanks

Knew I should have saved the instructions. I did front and rear last week. Front you need to take out the pop trim holders x 3 at mounting location. Then fold out the felt out (PIA) Felt is attached under well flair outside trim so it doesn’t come out completely. Got to reach up and feel around for the metal tabs the pop trim holders were in. ONLY NEED INSTALL clip on LOWER tab of the upper 2. Make sure the hole in the clip and hole of the tab are centered. Fold back felt and put on mud flap. Put pop snap back in highest hole when done. Need spacers at the bottom too. Think they were 3/16 if I remember right.

Ok. Thanks. I’ll give it a shot when it gets above freezing

I didn’t get film with mine but I ordered a roll after I had them on for a while and they started chaffing paint, if I had to do it again I’d just bolt rubber ones to the inner fender
