"Let it go..." That'll probably cost me more than $50 in fuel!!!

I'll try doing the install file you sent over. Although when I tried earlier because of the OTA update it didn't see the USB file. Going to turn of wifi and try again.

Cheers for your help,

James
Make sure you’ve got the autoinstall.lst in there as well. Just repurpose one from a regular USB updater.

I suppose this thread is to old to reply to. When I try to use voice commands with nav The radio tells me that that feature is not available and that I have to complete the map installation. When I install the thumb drive it instantly says installing update but the screen that indicates what is going to happen never appears as in the instructions.

And you're using the same map update drive? You don't get the pop-up to acknowledge the map update will begin? Worst case you can tweak the autoinstall.lst script to install the missing voice packages.

Are you trying to install the 2 20 NA map update?

It could be that the map installation is picking up where it left off. I would leave it in for a while to see if it will work. The complete map update can take up to an hour (+/-). You will know it is complete when the system says complete and the message stays on the screen with the system no longer restarting on its own. Do not remove the USB until the update is really done.

If it just doesn't work, you may need to perform a Master Reset and/or do a hard reboot of the system by pulling the appropriate fuses or disconnecting the battery for a short time and then reinstall. If you do disconnect the battery, check the manual for things to be aware of when changing the battery.

Yes, I am using the same thumb drive. All it says is updating system software. I haven't been sitting in the car the whole time but I checked frequently early on and there was no screen prompt. The last time I tried the disk it went past a half hour but the engine stopped sometime about an hour. Now i disabled the auto kill on the dash and am trying again. Its been running for 1/2 hour now. The disk is flashing an d it still says updating system software.

I performed a master reset yesterday per lincoln help on the phone line. Before I started this trying to get voice to work it indicated that 2 20 was installed. Now it is showing 1 19. I don't know which upgrade I have. The only one available, I think. Order: 14799973 VIN: 2LMPJ6LP8KBL61890 ESN: WY7Z7F58 PN: AMLJ5J 10F855 EA-FA

How do you tweak the autoinstall.lst script to install the missing voice packages. Do I use notepad to do that on another thumbdrive so I don't mess up the drive that I have?

Ok. After 45 minutes this time it says installation complete and I can remove disk. Up dates will take place the next time I start the car. I didn't turn off the car or remove the disk yet. I did close the notification screen. How long should I wait before turning off the car? I don't understand where I can see what files are installed in the system.

OK. Voice didn't work after restart but after a master reset (3rd one I think) the voice finally works. Thanks for the help. I still would like to know wholly out of curiosity how to know which files are loaded on system and how to tweak the autoinstall file. It shows my map version now as 1 19. 2 20 was installed at one time. Is it possible that 2 20 is installed via wireless with version 3.4 software?

3.4 can download map updates over wifi but it is a long process. Using the VIN you provided, it seems that the latest map was already downloaded (I would expect that to be 2 20) so not sure why yours now says 1 19. If you still have the email from your latest order, there should be a link to allow you to download the files again and get 2 20 (and reinstall).

If the activity light is flashing it must be pulling down the files. The map update can take a long time. Seems dependent on the drive. I’ve heard of under an hour to two and a half hours. When it’s finally done you’ll get the message ok screen that stays. The others it’ll auto restart itself after a few seconds.

FWIW, I updated my 17 Mustang from Sync 2.x to 3.0 and the maps from NA 1 15 to NA 1 18 all at once. It took about an 1.5 hours to complete. I went for a drive while doing the update so I wouldn't have to worry about the car shutting off. Anyway, Sync rebooted a couple of times and once it asked me power cycle Sync (presumably between the Sync update and the map update).

With my Ranger as soon as I got home and connected to my home wifi it started updating over wifi. It went from 3.4.21098 50 3.4.21194. The next day when I got into the truck there was another message that it had updated again. This time the maps had gone from NA 1 19 to NA 2 20.

Yeah, the voice nav pack is missing. You can pull the matching US English one and do a manual update to get it working again. On the latest build, it will prompt you to complete the map update for those commands when the file is missing instead of dropping out. One guess why that was added...

Also not sure why the 20Q2 map update isn't available from the USB map update site yet. It should be free to download like the 19Q1 when it does roll out.
I'm in the same boat....the map seemed to load fine but no voice commands. My bad as I shut the truck down at 1:50 minutes into the update. I can live without the voice commands (and I will do so it it means reload 2.21). But it seems like I'm just missing the 422 file.

I'm brain farting on how to modify the install script...hopefully someone who has sucessfully done this could show me the way...

Mine did the same thing. A soft reset fixed it. Press volume knob and >>.until it resets.
