I just finished a prototype the other day for giggles and have about 6 hours left of printing. Time permitting I'll probably put together a couple of SHT31-D Temp/Humidity sensors with a simple microcontroller and data log a few scenarios with and without a scoop. Would be an interesting experiment.

Simple (3) piece design to cut down on print times. Uses heat pressed threaded inserts from Penn Engineering and stainless hardware. Also mounts directly to the shield/shroud panel.

This is freaking cool. If it turns out the way you like, would this be something you would consider selling?

Cant tell if winter -> summer gas effect, but getting around .5ish mpg increase since throwing it on. Before was getting 19.3-19.5 (computer), to (19.8-20.0) on my last 5 fillups. Although the first two fillups when i installed it i didnt notice anything.

Hard to take my info for anything since wind effects my truck way more it seems since its leveled/lifted and with 33's.

The only thing I can actually say about it is that it probably does decrease intake temps quicker when you stomp on it back to back to back and its stinkingly hot in there. I find myself returning back to lower temps quicker than before, but could be placebo. Not worth the $120, is my overall verdict.

DISCLAIMER: I stomp on it too much to get data on MPG, so it might be worth testing for MPG gains with a steady foot.

It still fits, but the grille lights do partially block a portion of the big mouth.

Like others have said....I've had mine installed for about a yeah and a half and have not noticed any difference with performance or MPG's.

Not going to bother with any post processing for the first version.

I'm contemplating upgrading my printer from the S3 to the S5 so I have a larger print area and can print with higher temp materials. For some things I'd rather print with Nylon G/X over Polycarbonate plus some of the newer carbon infused materials are pretty slick. Just hard to justify spending $10k right now.

Already a few minor things I would change now that its together...but thats part of the process.

I think rather than putting together any sensors to data log I'll just write a quick macOS app to integrate with a bluetooth OBDII device and just grab the data from existing PID's. Just wish there were more hours in the day.

Today will be cleaning the interior of the truck to get rid of the dog slobber and hair.

Have you thought about using any of the many printing services that are available nowadays?

I have, but they charge a fortune or the quality is not worth it.

It's a sizable print.

Upper half is 16 hours. Lower half is 7 hours. Mouth is 4 hours. I could shave a bunch of time though going from a 0.4 nozzle to a 0.8 nozzle but the print quality is crap and any time savings would be lost in post processing.

In contrast if I were to combine the lower and upper halves and print with support material like PVA or Breakaway the print time is close to (2) days. So finding a way to print in pieces without support material and use mechanical fasteners usually cuts time in half or more.

Few minor issues to resolve for any final design. Top gasket is needed for leveling. The hood shroud when attached is not level with the center divider. I got close but need to add another 5mm to maximize the space. 1mm needs to come off the left side as it will rub against the shroud there. And another 1mm off the base so it doesn't rub against the frame. My grill light is definitely an issue like many raptor style lighting. The opening is far enough back that any normal pressure build up has a path to go in the tube.
